Designer Shoes: Dakota Fanning

Dakota Fanning wore Charlotte Olympia Octavia platform sandals to the 2013 National Arts Awards held at Cipriani 42nd Street in NYC. Here’s a better look at her shoes. These spiderweb-inspired heels feature blush suede and micro crystal studs. Octavia is available (on sale!) in black suede at Forward by Elyse Walker.

She also chose a pale blush draped chiffon gown with a v-shaped neckline by Vionnet from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection which was cinched at the waist creating a gathered floor-length skirt. I share the same hair color & skin tone as Dakota and although I also tend to gravitate towards these pastel shades, I know it washes me out.

She put the finishing touches on the look with minimal makeup including a rosy pink lip and also carried a Smythson Envelope Boxed taupe satin framed clutch.

Dakota Fanning wore Miu Miu platform pumps to the premiere of ‘Night Moves’ at the 2013 Venice Film Festival. Here’s a closer look at her shoes. They feature black patent leather, covered platform and 5″ heel. You can find a similar style (on sale!) in black suede at Bluefly or burgundy/dove grey suede at Yoox.

Her Alexander McQueen photo call dress was a hit so I high expectations for the premiere. Dakota chose a deep v-neck fully embellished sleeveless sapphire ball gown by Elie Saab from the Fall 2013 Haute Couture collection.

She also added a Rona Pfeiffer sapphire ring and several diamond cocktail rings by Cathy Waterman. I like Dakota’s signature sleek platinum locks but wish she added the thin belt presented with the gown and included the concealed pockets into her red carpet poses.

Dakota Fanning wore Rupert Sanderson Elba pumps to the ‘Night Moves’ photo call at the 2013 Venice Film Festival. These shoes are from the Fall 2013 collection featuring wine leather, 110mm heel and mirrored gold heel breast. Elba is available online in several styles at Rupert Sanderson.

I adore her Alexander McQueen Resort 2014 ecru nubuck calfskin patchwork dress with embossed designs and whipstitch trim. This eggshell shade was the primary color throughout the collection and although it’s not the best match for Dakota’s fair skin tone, I still love this choice. She also added a shimmery pink rose lip and several cocktail rings.

Dakota Fanning is featured in the March 2013 issue of Glamour wearing Charlotte Olympia Miranda wedges. This style hasn’t appeared online yet however you can find the Miranda wedge available online in bamboo print at Matches, leopard print at Net-A-Porter and a variety of styles at Charlotte Olympia.

I’ve had sleek straight hair all of my life except for the time I begged for a perm in the first grade…it was my favorite hairstyle so I completely covet Dakota’s lively curls. She’s also wearing a champagne satin Jill Stuart romper from the Spring 2013 collection.

Dakota Fanning wore a fuchsia Lanvin Pre-Fall 2012 dress to the Tribeca Film Festival Vanity Fair Party in NYC which she paired with rather boring d’Orsay pumps also by Lanvin. Steps to improve Dakota’s outfit: 1. remove the head chain 2. change the shoes.

Shoes She Should Have Worn: Dakota Fanning

Nicholas Kirkwood Harmony floral pump; available online at MyTheresa & Browns
We recently saw the bird of paradise print on Kerry Washington.

Brian Atwood Scarlet embroidered sandal; from the Spring 2012 collection
This is my favorite choice for Dakota; they’re stunning. You can find this style available in a pump from the Resort 2012 collection at Bergdorf Goodman.

Tabitha Simmons Bailey floral print heels; available online at Matches & Bergdorf Goodman
These would work paired with a darker clutch. They’re age appropriate and look so good on the foot!

Sergio Rossi Chloris embellished sandal; available online at Zappos
Major statement shoes that actually work with her headpiece…

Manolo Blahnik floral print silk pumps; available online at Saks Fifth Avenue
I prefer a sandal for Dakota however if she wanted to stick with a pointed-toe pump this is a cute option.
