Paul AndrewFlora sandal | 105mm/4.1″ heel | shop at Stylebop
After launching his namesake label in 2013, Paul Andrew’s beautifully elegant shoes quickly garnered the attention of shoe lovers everywhere. For the Spring 2016 collection he says; “My true joy in designing comes from perfecting the details, from developing custom fabrics, ornamentation, and Italian leather, suede and exotics.”
The Flora sandal is a perfection expression of my favorite flowering season in shoe form. It’s delicate yet architectural featuring a transparent lucite heel, thin platinum metallic specchio strap embellished all-over with handcrafted flowers. Available only in whole sizes.
In addition to the blooming flowers, welcoming sunshine and green grass, strappy open-toe sandals are another sign that spring has sprung. Before you know it, it will be time to pack the boots away, treat yourself to a pedi (we suggest trying Dior’s new lilac polish) and slip into some strappy sandals – strappier the better.
Here’s a look at our favorite new arrivals for Spring 2016:
Tulum lace-up sandals embellished with fringe and gold-tone dome studs; available at Barneys.
Chelsea ParisSultan lace-up sandals; in aqua at Grazia Shop or brown at Otte.
Even more obvious than the painted cork trend, denim footwear is impossible to overlook this spring. From shoe maestro Blahnik to pacesetter , the industry brings us a playful spin on the classic jean twill.
From pumps to sandals, platforms to stilettos – each designer created a unique styles inspired by the blue Americana staple. Not only is denim is a reliable fabric perfect for everyday wear but it’s also an interestingly stylish shoe textile.
I particularly love Gianvito Rossi’s take, adding several denim designs to his spring collection which features a dark wash exaggerated with frayed patches. Both Fendi and Christian Louboutin combined a lighter shade with tropical floral printed leather. Jimmy Choo carries the most amount of denim styles this season adding a sleek contrasting black leather trim to several styles.

During my [long] break from blogging, and even though I wasn’t writing everyday, I was still checking out the latest collections – once a shoe lover, always a shoe lover ☺.
One of the reasons I felt it took me so long to get back to blogging is that I couldn’t help but feel overall uninspired by everything I was seeing stocked in my favorite stores. Aside from a few standouts here & there, the designs seemed monotonous. Which is the reason why I have so much respect for designers who manage to balance creativity with wearability and staple pieces while at the same time maintaining a unique brand voice.
I was browsing through new spring styles and wanted to share the shoes which really caught my eye:

Paul AndrewAvellana strappy sandals | 115mm/4.5″ heel | shop at Shopbop for $795
After launching his luxury women’s shoe line last spring and I was happy to see Paul Andrew’s delightfully charming designs hit several of my favorite stockists (including Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue and ShoeScribe). He has over fifteen years of experience with iconic fashion houses such as Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen and Narciso Rodriguez.
Paul Andrew was also named the 2013 ‘Launch of the Year’ by Fairchild Publications and in a recent interview with Footwear News, Donna Karan spoke of him saying, “He focuses on every detail, so it’s all about the toe, the heel, the fabric. He has a great vision and brings his own creative perspective to every design.”
These striking Avellana sandals are one of my favorite designs from the latest Spring 2014 collection. They feature fuchsia pink grosgrain silk layered with metallic gold leather, asymmetric cross straps, thin 0.5″ platform and circle leather covered buckle. Half sizes are available.
