Designer Shoes: Stella McCartney

Fashion month may have officially wrapped up, but we still aren’t ready to double-air-kiss goodbye the shoes we spied on the Paris catwalks. So grab a box of macarons and enjoy our little runway recap of the most stylish shoes that dazzled in the City of Light.

Oliver Rouesting successfully showed how the female lines and curves can be celebrated even while completely covered up. Legs gained extra mileage with stretch suede boots that seemingly went on forever. The stilettos boots paired with opaque tights highlighted the sexy female form, without the skin doing a peek-a-boo act.

Matching the shiny brocade jackets, lacy tops and elegant evening gowns were chic and cool lace-up ankle booties with sneaker-like gold lace holes, pumps with chunky criss-cross straps and flat boots with button and snap details at the back shaft.

Christian Dior
It was a great display of modern aesthetics on the Dior runway. Lace-up, pointed-toe boots got multiple treatments –croc and snakeskin with cut-out details make for awesome work-to-play shoes. Their ankle heel counterparts are just as fab with its laces and side strap combo. The color and print blocking action, mixing reptile prints with neutrals, make these stunning shoes a staple in your mixing and matching pursuits.

Isabel Marant
For club kids who always just want to have fun. Zebra-striped pixie booties were adorned with studs and the buckled flats were worn with matching socks for an overall boot effect that screams, 80s.

Your oversized ski jacket can now either be paired with go-go boots in your neutral color of choice, or satin pumps encrusted with sparkly accoutrements. And if you want your legs to be entirely covered in print, there are thigh-high boots for you with matching coats.

Ricardo Tisci has basically turned boots into pieces of clothing. The slender and sleek design either stopped at the knee or higher until it covered the leg like a pair of bottoms. Some sported nude toneswhile others in an edgier python print, accented with leather uppers flashing orange or gold hues. Metal heels also had a unique conical shape with graphic patterned in-lays.

It was the perfect mix of charm and chic. Low-block heels with a pointed toe in gray and white, make for the perfect professional shoe you can take to playtime as well. Leather pumps even got some leather trimmings and can definitely add a flirty and feminine touch to a power suit.

Classic and demure, feminine and fancy –fitting for the Parisian high society. Black pumps got extra strappy with its ladder-style, gladiator form. Black pointy flats were cutesy with its bow detail at the cap –we say “Oui” to its subtle and charming elegance.

An equestrian theme would of course call for bucket hats with chinstraps and of course, riding boots. These tall riding boots with a cut-out detail at the ankle sported a wingtip brogue and dainty silver eyelets. In magenta, black, denim and gold, the boots were striking contrasts to the tweed jacket and coats draped with pearls.

The shoes perfectly matched the not-so basic, neutral color palette. A play on the classics –we are treated to heeled Mary Janes and strappy slingback sandals bedazzled with tiny crystals with matching ribbed socks. Then of course, the signature Rockstud ballet flats were also updated with the same iconic strap.

Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Louis-VuittonLouis Vuitton
The Louis Vuitton woman for fall is a heroine with style and attitude, plus a street cred to match. Nicolas Ghesquière presented lace-front combat boots in high-shine black or blue, or infused with the sporty details of kicks (now you get to know what it feels like to wear rubber shoes with heels).

Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Miu-MiuMiu Miu
The concept of “less is more” did not exist on the Miu Miu runway. Suede boots and satin pumps were super fierce with their pin-thin heels. Even the back of the pumps were accented with bows on the back. Fur slides a.k.a. our dream bedroom slippers got a dose of sparkle, with its sprinkling of crystals and pearls. A standout piece and something worthy to be displayed inside a glass case would be the brocade pumps with a one-of-a-kind structural embellishment on the back.

About the author: zenzhu is a freelance fashion and lifestyle writer who is also a hopeless shoe-addict. He thinks her 5’4″ height and her love for long walks make her deserving of all the stilettos, pumps, sandals and ballet flats in the world. If only the cupcakes she expertly bakes can be traded in for a new pair (or two, or hopefully, more).
