FFANY June 2011 Show: Day 1

When I found out FFANY was incorporating blogger correspondants into their June show of course I signed up – who doesn’t want to oogle over shoes all day?!

FFANY (Fashion Footwear Association of New York) is an association that brings footwear manufacturers and retailers, the industry players together. They’ve represented the footwear industry for over 30 years.

The trade show is a three day event where designers present their collections at different locations around the city. I started my day at the hub of it all located at the Hilton.

Insider look at the shoes from Day 1:

Carmen pony stiletto wedge by Matiko
I’ve been a fan of Matiko for awhile. I originally found out about the brand while reading Artfully Awear. I’m amazed at how lightweight their heels are – even the wedges.

Alice teacup illustrated canvas pump by Acrylicana
This pump is the perfect shoe for a (tea) party. Their showcase was filled with adorable illustrations which of course caught my eye. They also had scratch & sniff shoe laces!

Brooke lime suede wedge slingback by Elizabeth Brady
Elizabeth Brady’s shoes are very beautiful. Her designs are soft & feminine in different shades of yellow, green and beige. I found this really great interview with Elizabeth from a previous FFANY show.

Brianna sandal by Beverly Feldman
Many of Feldman’s designs feature embellishments and fun prints like polka dots but this sandal stood out to me. It has suede cross straps, studs and a woven metallic heel.

Peach & terra platform wood sandal – Charles by Charles David
The showroom model had on these fabulous strappy woven platform sandals which I love. Natalie Portman was spotted in on of their signature satin pumps earlier this year.

Lemon & turquoise t-strap platform sandal by Pura Lopez
I was pleasantly surprised to see such brightly colored shoes in the Spring 2011 collection. Their previous collections include more soft & subdued suede colors.

Zhacqueline by Sasha Igdari
For me, Sasha was the bell of the ball. Her passion & personality shine through into her designs. Sasha’s heels all feature a patented footbed she’s created allowing them to be ridiculously comfortable.

I will be visiting more showrooms during the next two days around the city. Check back for a re-cap every day! Want more on FFANY happenings?! Miss Mean Shoe is also here covering the event.

Yes, I know – so impressive. Tomorrow I have an appointment with some of our favorites – SO excited! Xo

  2. I was accidentally given a retailer badge when I checked in, and didn’t even notice, so at first I had a hard time getting exhibitors to let me take pictures! LOL

You definitely got more out of Charles David than I did, (when I told them I was digital press and not a retailer, they all literally high tailed out of there and left me standing there!) but I do agree that Sasha was totally the belle of the ball, and I interviewed her as well. Sasha and Bacolte were my favorite two from day one! (Pura Lopez was already closed by the time I got to them, so thanks for posting the pic, I’ll try and check them out day 2) :)

    • Ashley says:

Haha that’s awesome! I didn’t notice until I got back to the apartment that my badge said “ShoeRassi” all day – great for brand awareness ;) Hope you have a great day tomorrow being press!

  3. Ooh I’ll have to check out Sasha’s collection, that shoe is gorgeous (and comfy?!)! I also love the shoe from Beverly Feldman’s booth. Keep up the good work!
