Jerome C. Rousseau Fall 2013 Collection

Los Angeles based brand and shoe designer Jerome C. Rousseau has had an eclectic fashion history. Born in Quebec, the Canadian-bred boy took an interest in art at an early age, though he specifically cites Deee-Lite’s Groove is in the Heart (and their subsequently funky, colorful, and gaudily vintage-inspired shoes) as his main source of sole-spiration. Over the next ten years, he worked alongside and learned from London design greats, such as John Richmond, Matthew Williamson, and John Rocha. It wasn’t until 2008 that he launched his eponymous label in L.A. and it has been met with well-deserved fanfare.

Need proof? He was awarded the respected “Who Is On Next” accessories prize by Vogue Italia, collaborated with Disney to create a Tron inspired shoe, and is a Jerome-C-Rousseau-Logo-2013Hollywood footwear favorite. Though his brand was catapulted into the spotlight after being spottedon Kristen Stewart during The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 press tour, Jerome C. Rousseau’s shoes have also been spotted on sartorial starlets Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Richie, Katie Holmes, Olivia Wilde, Jessica Alba, and Charlize Theron. With a muse and friend as beautiful as French actress Roxane Mesquida – he told Bloginity “You can just scoop her with a spoon, she’s just SO lovely, you know, like the most amazing dessert.” – it’s no shocker that the inspiration continues to flow.

Five years and eleven seasons later, Rousseau’s Fall 2013 line incorporates the whimsy he’s known for with the architecture he loves. His obsession with modern art, structure, and pop culture – some of these pumps have glitter that would make Mariah Carey compose an Ode to Joy – culminate in a gorgeous holiday collection that is sure to turn heads. This season is all about floral printed velvet, micro-studded suede, pointed-toe booties with elaborate bondage-style straps, and thorny stiletto heels. However, his architecturally driven style isn’t forgotten. Origami-style pleating and elegant looping ensure that his unique blend of industrialism and whimsy aren’t lost.

Carried at both large retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Shopbop, as well as select boutiques such as Avenue32, Jerome C. Rousseau’s collection is perfect for the woman who loves to blend edge and sophistication. Purchase a pair and be ready to feel a rush of confidence.
