New York Fashion Week Shoes Spotted on the Runway: Fall 2016

Yes baby, it’s cold outside. But big-name designers have definitely turned up the temp with the sizzling hot shoes that hit their runways. From braided booties to strappy pumps, here are the shoes that stole the show (and our hearts).

Altuzarra
Some croc, Madame? Only Joseph Altuzarra can convince us on how over-the-knee boots with croc-effect leather, can artistically exhibit how aesthetics and practicality can really exist in footwear. With low block heels and neutral shades in black, navy or gray, we can see (and hopefully wear) these cropped and pony hair tall boots as one of fall 2016’s staples. And taking a detour from the reptile route, paisley-printed boots and ladder-strap pumps also graced the catwalk.

Derek Lam
Modern classicism ruled the Derek Lam runway. Low-heeled, lace-up stiletto booties redefine how fall footwear can be worn from day to night –maybe even forever? Our favorite –the high stacked heels cinched with a thin strap that wraps around the ankles –it’s badass and dainty at the same time. Other key, boot details include contrast piping and mesh cut-outs that complemented Lam’s luxe-minimalist sensibility.

Jason Wu
The Wu woman for Fall/Winter 2016 is refined, sexy, sophisticated and…comfortable! Velvet court shoes and kitten heels were paired elegantly with long leather coats and ultra-feminine black lace dresses. Classic slingbacks were updated with a chunky bow detail that wraps around the foot and heel–the perfect mix of strength and seduction. We think we’ve found our new work-to-play shoes!

Alexander Wang
It’s glam-goth in footwear. If punk princesses headed to the Upper East Side, these are the shoes they’ll be sporting. Wang complemented his marijuana leaf-decorated dresses with cap-toe-embellished combat boots, high-top sneakers, studded booties and creeper-soled Wallabees –all very stomp-worthy.

Prabal Gurung
If a woman’s power was measured by the sharpness of her shoe, then the Prabal Gurung woman would be a superhero. Pointy ankle boots adorned with metallic silver toe caps were sleek and fierce. One of the shoe stand-outs was a pair of on-point (pun intended) below-the-knee leather boots in a stunning, midnight blue hue. However, the other strappy sandals with stiletto heels and sexy side cut-outs in laminated leather, are just as competent enough to stylishly save the day and rescue us from any sartorial rut.

Christian Siriano
Siriano shoes for Fall/Winter 2016 are a vibrant mix of texture, color and structure. Statement-making red and yellow, snake-stamped over-the-knee boots were given a playful touch with a thick plait that slithered from the top until the arches of the foot. It was a braid invasion –even stiletto heels and sandals were madeover with the feminine and flirty ropes.
