New York Fashion Week Shoes Spring 2013

My favorite shoes heels so far at New York Fashion Week for Spring 2013: Casadei-for-Prabal-Gurung Credit: Elle | WWD | Style.com Casadei for Prabal Gurung I’ve been writing and focused on so many celebrity shoe posts recently that I missed Gurung’s show via live stream. I was really happy to hear about this collaboration, Cesare Casadei is one of my favorite shoe designers. These shoes feature patent leather, mesh, snakeskin and an acetate wedge with a degrade effect plus the signature steel blade insert. The sandal will retail for $1,000 and the pointed-toe style for $900. Gianvito-Rossi-Altuzarra-shoes-Spring-2013 Credit: Style.com Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra Wow…are there even words?! This show was all about the shoes. If you can’t wait until next spring, I recommend grabbing these sandals as a filler. Although the knee-high versions are beautiful, the shorter style (ones we will actually, most likely see stocked at Barneys) are lovely. There were obvious clues as Victoria has been wearing the BB pump recently (even at the Olympic Closing Ceremony) and confessing her love for Blahnik’s shoes on Twitter. I don’t care for the monochrome brogues (not my style) however I do like the nude leather booties. The black leather bootie feels heavy for spring….don’t they looks like a cousin to the Tom Ford peep-toe boots Victoria was wearing around this spring/summer? I absolutely loved this colorful collection! The chain ankle-strap sandals remind me of Giambattista Valli’s sandals from the Spring 2012 collection. These pictures really don’t do the shoes justice however they’re the best we have right now. I will be uploading more as they become available. Credit: Style.com Jason Wu Especially after this fall’s beautiful brocade pumps, I have warmed up to Wu’s footwear. The designs don’t feel very spring/summer to me however I love the details. The pumps feature dotted mesh, pearl studded ankle-straps and crystal-embellished heels. These shoes are available online for pre-order at Nordstrom until September 17! Every shoe features a metallic gold stiletto and several also have a gold cap-toe. There were blue & purple floral prints and there even a bit of lace. However once I got a side view I swooned. They feature a carved lucite wedge, suede, leather, snakeskin with lots of knotted detailing and leather ankle-wraps. Rodarte-Spring-2013-shoes Credit: Vogue & Rodarte Rodarte-Spring-2013-shoes-boots Rodarte Rodarte collaborated with Nicholas Kirkwood for several seasons and then started designing their own shoes for the Fall 2011 collection (remember, the sand-filled heels?). For Spring 2013 Rodarte created colorful, armor-like sandals & booties. These futuristic shoes feature chunky heels, neoprene, mesh inserts and geometric shapes. They look like a hybrid of these Pierre Hardy + Vera Wang + Balenciaga + Alexander Wang shoes.

I haven’t counted up the Christian Louboutin collaborations yet however I’m pretty sure Blahnik had the most this season. I already posted about the collection he designed for Victoria Beckham (featured above) and he also created many more, I count 15 total. I love the double wrapped ankle-strap on the Rolando Santana sandals however the J. Mendel pumps were my favorite. Blahnik also designed flat sandals for Band of Outsiders.

This season Christian Louboutin collaborated with Jenny Packham, Marchesa, The Blonds and Stephen Burrows. The Bibi pump was created in new glitter colors for Packham and of course, very detailed, intricate designs graced Marchesa’s runway. My favorite was the crystal spiked boot at The Blonds. All other designs have debuted in previous collections.

  1. Casadei x Prabal Gurung – I loved this collaboration. Casadei wedges always seem to defy logic, they are always so creative.

Gianvito Rossi x Altuzarra – Those are serious! I love a gladiator inspired sandal and these have my heart (♥).

Manolo Blahnik x Vistoria Beckham – I love these boots. I agree with you though, they are mighty similar to that Tom Ford Boot she has been wearing recently. I didn’t think Mr. Blahnik had it in him to update to more recent times ( Pardon the Shade)

Diane Von Furstenberg – This is my least favorite of all you’ve shown. I just can’t get down with those flatforms. I like her iteration of the “sleek” sandal but those close-ups are scaring the sh*t out of me.

Jason Wu – Very Lady-like and I see he has stuck to his principal aesthetic but just toughened it up a bit with studs and hardware.

P.s. – sorry for the length.

  2. Yum!!! There are so many goodies on this page! Although I thought a lil weird at first I’d seriously wear those Casadei for Prabal Gurung! The Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra were definitely show stoppers! The Manolo Blahnik for Victoria Beckham I need a pair in my closet NOW! Good Lawrd I love!!!!
