I love these cute sandals from Alexander McQueen’s Pre-Spring 2014 collection. They feature a nude leather front and insole, thin toe strap, flamingo pink leather heel, super thin adjustable ankle-strap and small silver-tone buckle.
This style is only available in whole sizes. You can also find it in black suede and metallic gold leather with a slightly higher 4.5″ heel at Zappos.
Naomie Harris wore Alexander McQueen platform sandals to the Royal Film Performance of ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ in London. These heels are from the Spring 2014 collection featuring black leather straps, red & black marbled platforms and curved stiletto. This collection hasn’t hit retail yet but you can find Fall ’13 and Pre-Spring ’14 styles at Farfetch, Neiman Marcus and Alexander McQueen.
She’s been on a long promo tour for this biographical film and arrived wearing her best look yet. Naomie looked fabulous wearing an Alexander McQueen black viscose crepe strapless dress with a floor-length skirt and ornate gold leaf embroidered peplum from the Pre-Spring 2014 collection.
When warmer climates arrive, the boots get stored away and cheery sandals (strappier the better) come out to play. I love a classic court shoe but the brighter & more playful spring shoes are always my favorites.
Style.com’s Spring 2014 Accessories Index was just released and market director Marina Larroudé reveals the news on shoes spotlighting 10 standout styles. Her selections focus on several upcoming footwear trendsincluding mules, sportysandals and kitten-heel pumps.
Notes: I’ve named Isabel Marant’s latest creation the moccanstock since they’re a hybrid of a moccasin combined with a Birkenstock-style footbed. Gianvito Rossi solidified the spotlight again this season with his super sexy mules – which he also designed for Altuzarra.
Sporty shoes covered the runways at Milan Fashion Week and the most obvious example of this trend is Prada’s athletic-inspired heels featuring thick rubber bumpers. My favorite choice from Larroudé’s list is Tabitha Simmons super strappy pump in white leather; I imagine these look amazing on the foot.
My top picks: As usual, my selections are all about the heels and this season they’re especially different from the editor’s picks. I can never pass up a hot shoe! There were so many styles pulling at my heartstrings, it was difficult narrowing this down to 10.
Notes: Gianvito Rossi is the “master of the mule” and I love the mirrored leather combined with black python. Fendi’s silicone sandals are architecturally amazing and check out the industrial caged “double heels”. I adore Charlotte Olympia’s “Overboard” sea-inspired collection and yes, those are upside down mermaid heels! Diego Dolcini’s strappy sandal is a signature style redesigned in a trendy violet tulip neoprene and captivating shade of indigo.
Elizabeth Banks wore Alexander McQueen platform sandals to the ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Paris premiere. We were able to see the shoes thanks to her stylists’ (yes she has two, Wendi and Nicole Ferreira) Instagram photo. They’re from the Spring 2014 collection featuring black leather, two large gold-tone buckles, marbled green detailing and blue leather heel. This style is not yet online but you can shop current styles at Farfetch, Neiman Marcus & Alexander McQueen.
To round out the European tour, she went out with a bang in the City of Lights wearing an Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 black silk crepe dress with a square neck, column floor-length skirt, intricate Masai-inspired bead embroidery and ostrich feather peplum inspired by Zulu warriors.
Zoe Saldana wore Alexander McQueen lace-up pumps to the Palmarina Bodrum opening night after-party in Turkey. These shoes are from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection featuring black leather, suede side panels, gold-tone metal cap-toe and long leather laces. They’re available online at Alexander McQueen.
Alexander McQueen pump | 5″ heel & 1″ platform | buy online at Zappos for $825.00
Yes, you can find a shoe from this Spring 2013 honeybee-inspired collection without spending $4k! This pump features black honeycomb-embossed 3D patent leather, peep-toe and bow-shaped sculpted heel. The honeycomb pattern is also on the insole with a lightly padded nude leather panel. Half sizes are available.
The largest, jam-packed fashion week of them all – Paris!
Here are my thoughts, presented as mini awards: *I love the design but they might kill my feet…………Balenciaga I love the look of these sleek pointed-toe d’Orsay pumps but the strap between the toes is so skinny and looks rather uncomfortable.
*The shoe lover’s dream collection…………from head-to-toe infact, Oh, Dior! What a beautiful collection featuring Andy Warhol’s shoe sketches on dresses, clutches and bags:
Remember these pathetic Warhol shoe cookies I made 3 years ago? I revisited the post and found this truism, “Fantasy and clothes go together a lot.”
*Unexpected & interesting…………Givenchy These eye-catching striped boots combined multiple types of snakeskin (I count 3). They reach the mid-calf with a bulbous toe and short curved heel.
*I’ll pass on…………the tractor soles at Stella McCartney McCartney’s fall shoe collection is completely two-faced! A majority of the runway looks were worn with loafers & boots accented propped up on giant tractor soles. Towards the end of the show however, (thankfully) several feminine sculpted wooden wedges made their debut.
*I surprisingly liked & they’re wearable…………Louis Vuitton These ankle-strap platform sandals are wearable and cute. Most styles featured antique-looking smooth leather and there were also two designs covered with feathers.
Beyoncé is featured in the March 2013 issue of Vogue wearing Alexander McQueen platform sandals. These shoes are from the Spring 2013 collection featuring red satin, crystal-embellished straps and sculpted lucite heel filled with red crystals. There’s only one shoe available online from this collection right now with a glitter-filled platform at Neiman Marcus.
She looked ever so regal wearing a floral printed satin coat and two piece outfit by Rochas from the Spring 2013 RTW collection. Beyoncé has a busy year planned and starts the (4 month!) Mrs. Carter Show World Tour later this spring.
