Charlotte Olympia’s electric Pre-Fall 2016 Mechanix collection was inspired by Fritz Lang’s ‘Metropolis’ sci-fi epic. It’s a match made in heaven for Charlotte’s signature retro style as the film portrays a “highly stylized futuristic city” complete with snazzy robots, 1920s’ glamour and of course a dramatic love plot. Here’s a look at our favorite 5 styles:
Amped Up Dolly pump | shop at Charlotte Olympia Featuring red patent leather, pearl-like baubles along the platform, gadget embellished heel and jade covered platform.
Merylin wedge | shop at Charlotte Olympia Featuring a circuitboard inspired embroidered wedge with silver crystals and textured metallic gold leather strappy upper cage design.
Millicent sculpted pump | shop at Charlotte Olympia Featuring black suede and think chunky sculpted heel and covered platform.
Vreeland platform sandal | shop at Shopbop Pin-up inspired sandal in burgundy with a knotted suede strap across the front, croc-embossed leather platform and thin wrap-around ankle-strap.
Sky Scraper platform sandal | shop at Nordstrom Textured silver leather Art Deco obelisk-shaped sandal with a thin wrap-around strap at the ankle and flying saucer inspired crystal bijoux at the peep-toe.
They’re not only called “dance shoes” because you wear them while you bust a move to your jam, but they can also earn that description when just getting a glimpse of the pair literally invigorates you to do a happy dance. Whether you’re on a dance floor or not, you’d love to get your feet into Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection as it hits refresh on disco-glam footwear.
Discover fun, feminine and opulent shoes but with a punkier aesthetic in the form of metallic printed croc, cool cut-outs, spike heels and sexy pleats. The brazen collection boasts of a color scheme befitting of a woman ready to conquer the world, but with an unapologetic need to party. Yellow, silver, light pink, fuchsia, and gold are paired with glitzy metals and hair-calf prints, resulting in statement shoes that would make for an unforgettable spring and summer sartorial season.
The Hand Painted Open Back Ankle Strap Pumps meet the criteria of a power shoe –a sharp, pointed toe, a low spike heel, a striking animal print glistening in gold and fuchsia metals plus ankle and back straps are the perfect combination of sassy and sexy, commanding and seductive.
We may have a longstanding love affair with classic pumps, but Tom Ford’s twist on the staple shoe has gotten as wanting to play footsie (literally and figuratively) with the Metallic Printed Croc Cut-Out Heel Pumps. In stunning silver, gold and light pink, these babies would look ultra-sleek when worn with cropped pants or to jazz up a little black dress. The low spike heel creates a voluptuous curve, creating a sexy silhouette despite its shortage in height.
And despite our love for color, black will always hold a special space in our shoe-obsessed hearts. The calf leather Frayed Satin Spike Heel Pump with its unravelled detailing lends a lovely contrast to the gold spike heel –perfect for a day-to-night shoe. The Pleated Wrap Sandal is perhaps our favorite –the wrap-around effect of the pleated viscose and seta fabrics along with the architectural block heel will definitely add extra s spring to our step (pun intended) this season.
About the author: Romina Tobias is a freelance fashion and lifestyle writer who is also a hopeless shoe-addict. She thinks her 5’4″ height and her love for long walks make her deserving of all the stilettos, pumps, sandals and ballet flats in the world. If only the cupcakes she expertly bakes can be traded in for a new pair (or two, or hopefully, more).
Taylor Swift wore Charlotte OlympiaBelinda sandals to the 2015 BRIT Awards held at The O2 Arena in London. These heels feature crimson red leather, delicate cut-out detail, scalloped edges, tie-up closure plus a 35mm platform and 150mm heel. Belinda is available at Farfetch, Neiman Marcus, Net-A-Porter and Charlotte Olympia.

It’s hard to sum up Tabitha Simmons in a nutshell. In her youth, she was a stellar fashion model that successfully transformed her career into a must-have stylist, styling runway shows, lookbooks, and editorials for massive names such as American Vogue, Rag & Bone, Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana. Her pleasant demeanor and behind-the-fashion-scene acumen sent her career on a sky-high trajectory but Tabitha didn’t stop there. Her voracious appetite to try new things and artistic eye led her to pick up another avenue in the fashion industry: shoe design. Naturally, she and her brand have flourished. With that in mind, if we were to accurately describe her in three words, it’d probably be: Fashion’s Wonder Woman.
Since starting her brand in 2009, Tabitha’s footwear has been widely and warmly accepted by the fashion industry. Her Spring 2014 collection is as strong and lush as we’ve come to expect from Tabitha’s aesthetic, which is to say: everything we could ever want and more. Unmistakably feminine, confidently daring, it’s hard to pick a favorite.
The silhouettes range from sleek to quirky, strappy to minimalistic – giving plenty of options for any walk of life. We love how she’s not afraid to play around with heavier shapes and despite the season, even adding in a signature calf hair boot. Sugary sweet themes, such as thin baby blue stripes or candy colored glitter, are balanced out by the undoubtedly dramatic – we’re talking snakeskin, perforated eyelet leather, and crystal covered bows.
We particularly gravitate to the Bailey fullycrystal embellished sandal and the handful of designs that are printed with colorful butterfly designs on woven silk. They’re the perfect blend of classic and sass which make for the ultimate statement shoe.
Though the heels are high and the impact is bold, Tabitha never designs without comfort in mind. She understands the daily routine of a woman on the go and knows the importance of wearability, no matter the style or height. After all, we find it hard to believe that Tabitha herself is in one place at one time for more than five minutes – why shouldn’t style travel alongside comfort? We can’t ask for a collection of shoes more perfect than hers.
Alexa slingback pumps with a contrast panel at the toe; available in white leather at Tabitha Simmons and in black & nude leather at Moda Operandi.
Daniele MichettiMahima sandal | 110mm/4.3″ heel | shop at Neiman Marcus for $750
This eye-catching sandal is from Michett’s Indian-inspired Spring 2014 collection. Mahima features an electric yellowish green lime leather, multisize rectangular laser-cut designs throughout, silver-tone buckled ankle-strap, squared off toe and black leather insole.
Half sizes are available and you can find more styles from this new collection at ShoeScribe.
Giuseppe Zanotti strappy suede sandal | 120mm heel/12mm platform | shop at Zappos for $1,395
This is a new statement design from Zanotti’s Resort 2014 collection. I’ve seen it in several colors but this pale jade hue is my favorite. They feature circle cage cut-out suede, tapered almond toe, a row of three buckled ankle-straps, nude leather insole and concealed back zip.
Rupert Sanderson designed a statement spring collection which has something for everyone. It’s playful and creative but still includes what I call the “staples”, like the new Elba pointed-toe pump. Elba is a red carpet favorite which we’ve seen on Zoe Saldana, Naomi Watts, Michelle Dockery and Emma Stone. Several styles feature an embroidered cockatoo appliqué and there’s even a wedge boot with western stitching.
My top 3 favorite designs: the metallic pink Harting sandal, Latifa lip suede platform sandal and the Zandy cut-out arrow sandal in white leather
