Giannico-Spring-2016Set up the margarita station, bring out the donut pool floats, slip on your tiny bikini, lather up with sunscreen and turn up the reggae beats because it’s summer! At least that’s what the Giannico Spring/Summer 2016 Collection is celebrating.

The Eternal Summer Collection is inspired by cocktail-sipping under an umbrella in Hotel Martinez in Cannes, taking a dip in the Beverly Hills Hotel pool or super stylish Jackie O walking down the picturesque streets of Capri. Giannico’s collection is definitely packed with happy sunshine.

The vibrant color palette perfectly captures the electrifying spirit of the season. From zippy shades of yellow, orange and fuchsia, to refreshing sorbet hues of sky blue and baby pink, prep yourselves for an unforgettably dreamy summer. Created by the talented young designer Nicolò Beretta (born in Milan in 1996), the line really does capture his unabashed enthusiasm for color and style, with a hint of romanticism.

Reminiscent of beach umbrellas, white and yellow striped-prints decorate the eye-catching sandals and stilettos, while the tropical print of banana leaves gives mules, sandals and boots its summer stamp. The Marina flats and pumps in nautical blue are fun and flirty with its tiny bow or little bouquet of pastel-colored flowers crafted from vintage swimGiannico-shoes-Summer-2016 caps. There’s also a pop of animal print here and there, fiercely adorning the cap of a wedge sandal or the platform of a block heel pump.

One of our favorite twists on the summer shoe is the Super Lola. Your classic nude pumps just got some summer lovin’. The 110mm-heels with quilted velvet insoles get peppered with patent leather fuchsia kisses. Mwah!

The Lolita pointed-toe ballet flats are like shiny pink gumballs you’d love to wear with a sundress. They will definitely be a sweet and cheery addition to any shoe collection.

We can’t neglect the fact that there are summer nights too. When the sun sets and the large moon and sparkling stars transform into a disco ball with surrounding twinkling lights, dance to the rhythm of summer in a sexy pair of Madison open toe pumps in midnight black accented with a cheetah print heel.

Cheers to summer and fabulous pairs of shoes to celebrate with!

About the author: Romina Tobias is a freelance fashion and lifestyle writer who is also a hopeless shoe-addict. She thinks her 5’4″ height and her love for long walks make her deserving of all the stilettos, pumps, sandals and ballet flats in the world. If only the cupcakes she expertly bakes can be traded in for a new pair (or two, or hopefully, more).

Giannico-embellished-mule-Spring-2016-shoesGiannico pointed-toe Picasso Mule | 4.7″/120mm | shop at LuisaViaRoma and ShoeScribe

We are slightly obsessed with the Giannico Spring 2016 collection by Nicolò Beretta. One of the obvious standouts from the collection is this signature Picasso Mule slip-on heel featuring striped yellow silk, baby blue leather, thin buckled front strap with geometric leather floral embellishments. Half sizes are available (shipping out March 15). Keep your eyes posted, we’re featuring our review on the entire spring collection tomorrow!

Giannico-Embellished-Picasso-mule-Spring-2016

During my [long] break from blogging, and even though I wasn’t writing everyday, I was still checking out the latest collections – once a shoe lover, always a shoe lover ☺.

One of the reasons I felt it took me so long to get back to blogging is that I couldn’t help but feel overall uninspired by everything I was seeing stocked in my favorite stores. Aside from a few standouts here & there, the designs seemed monotonous. Which is the reason why I have so much respect for designers who manage to balance creativity with wearability and staple pieces while at the same time maintaining a unique brand voice.

I was browsing through new spring styles and wanted to share the shoes which really caught my eye:

TAMARA-MELLON-Gladiatrix-lace-up-suede-sandals

Christian-Louboutin-Casanovella-fringe-sandals

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN Casanovella fringe sandals – don’t they make you want to prance & sashay around? We’re crazy for the long front fringe panel which falls nicely on the front – you can also find them in a fun textured navy variation resembling denim.

Ivy-Kirzhner-Mount-Wedge-Sandal-boots

IVY KIRZHNER Mount wedge sandal boots; Kirzhner has caught the attention of Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé…we love the long leather wrap and two-tone combination.

Dsquared2-embellished-black-lace-up-sandals

DSQUARED2 embellished black lace-up sandals – they have such a strong strappy footwear collection this season…we love all of them but especially this sexy shoe covered in gold hardware with a patent leather stitch design.

AQUAZZURA-Tutto-Buckle-sandals-nude-suede

AQUAZZURA Tutto Buckle sandals; easily one of the best designs of the season and our personal favorite. They’re carried exclusively at MyTheresa and also available in black leather or leopard print calf hair at Moda Operandi.

CHRISTIAN-LOUBOUTIN-Gela-Davis-embellished-pump

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN Gela Davis tulle firework embellished pump in black silk satin. We love this standout design featuring thin cross-straps and the super dramatic oversized tulle flower.

TAMARA-MELLON-Black-Magic-butterfly-sandals

TAMARA MELLON Black Magic butterfly black & white sandal; Black Magic was designed in several colors but this contrasting monochrome style is our favorite.

Giannico-Super-Lola-lip-pump-nude-Fall-2015

GIANNICO Super Lola nude & red lip pump; designer Nicolò Beretta picked up the award for best footwear at Vogue’s ‘Who Is On Next?’ 2015 competition and you can find several playful styles from the fall collection now stocked at LuisaViaRoma.

Christian-Louboutin-Houghton-white-platform-sandal

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN Houghton May white platform sandal – okay, technically this style debuted in the Marchesa Spring’15 runway show but we’re still in love with it – plus, since I live in Miami they’re an appropriate “florida winter white”. It’s also carried in black and white.

We love stalking photos of Parisian and Milanese runways, but it just so happens that a lot of the brightest shining soles aren’t the ones name dropped during late night television, they’re crafted by names that are just starting their ascent into greatness.

Here’s a list of our favorite up & coming designers, burgeoning brands and impressive footwear designs that have caught our eye. Since we began compiling this list months ago, several designers are already that much closer to fashion stardom! Many have spotted their work in an upcoming September issuegraced the feet of Hollywood’s finest or even landed a coveted spot in the iconic Bergdorf Goodman window displays.

Sarah-Flint-shoes

Sarah Flint
With internships at both Diane von Fürstenberg and Proenza Schouler under her belt, it isn’t surprising that the stunning shoes designed by Sarah Flint have a decidedly architectural bent. Adding a twist to classic designs, layered suede and shaped 3D leather are all a part of her impressive repertoire. As for us? We’re dying over her heeled Hayworth sandal.

Henri-Lepore-Dezert-shoes-Resort-2015

Henri Lepore Dezert
You might remember Henri Lepore Dezert from our recent interview with the designer himself, but just in case you need reminding, he’s a man with his star on the rise. Unafraid of mixing antique embellishments and sentiments with ferociously confident modern day flair, his designs are classic, yet sensual; perfect for work and for play.

Melis-Yildiz-shoes

Melis Yildiz
Blending traditional themes with high fashion touches (think: PVC detailing on a classic suede pump or metallic and textured thick heeled sandals), the punchy colored soles designed by Melis Paciotti for her brand Melis Yildiz are nothing short of show stoppers. Turkish born and Italy-based, elegance is met with vibrant sass with fabulous results.

Alejandra-G-shoes

Alejandra G.
Alejandra G. has one goal in mind: make an impact and make it big. The larger than life combinations of cherry red and leopard print, platform pumps and tassels, and snake print and studs just scratch the surface of the gotta-look-twice collections designed by the ever-fierce Alejandra. Slipping into a pair of these celebrity-endorsed sky-high heels will definitely make you the center of attention.

Giannico-Shoes

Giannico
Nicolò Beretta is a luxury footwear wunderkind and his brand Giannico reveals this 18-year-old’s massive talent. Giannico’s collections take architectural embellishments and flair to an entirely new level, weaving 3D geometric shapes into dramatic curves and swerves that have been snapped for the pages of Vogue Italia and Marie Claire Italia. Endlessly creative and new to the game, we’re sold on Giannico’s eclectic elegance.

Gianluca-Soldi-Shoes

Gianluca Soldi
Contemporary, sleek, confident. In a nutshell, that is Gianluca Soldi, whose designs balance the razor’s edge or romantic and modern. After freelance shoe designing for little brands you might have heard of (Kenzo, Dolce & Gabbana, and Versace to name a few), Gianluca started his own brand to fully encapsulate his vision. The result is sleek lines and vibrant color combinations, pin-thin heels and exotic skins, and we can’t get enough.

Gieseli-Dias-shoes

Giseli Dias
For every understated Sofia Coppola, there’s a Lady Gaga to balance her out. If Lauren Marinis is the Sofia in question, Giseli Diaz must be Gaga circa Pokerface. Her shoes are stratospheric in height, the patterns and colors are brighter than Oz, and there are enough rhinestone embellishments to make Elizabeth Taylor lose her cool. Fierce and unique, Giseli Diaz’ shoes make a bold statement.

Lauren-Marinis-pumps-shoes

Lauren Marinis
You might think that sky-high 5 inch heels aren’t for everyone, but one glance at Lauren Marinis’ vibrant, unique, and undeniably elegant collection will change your mind in a heartbeat. Using iridescent greys, teal snakeskins, and dyed calf-hair to prove sophistication can be vibrant, luxury never looked so obtainable. Her pumps will fill you with confidence and make you look like you have legs that go on for months, what more could you possibly want in a killer pair of shoes? Excuse us, we’re swooning over here.

Chloe-Gosselin-Shoes
Chloe Gosselin
Chloe Gosselin has stated that music, vintage aesthetics, and visual arts deeply inspire her collections and the resulting dark romance of her shoes is palpable – every design in her fall 2014 collection was named after a poisonous flower, after all – and yet, she never loses a sense of deep-rooted luxury or sophistication. Every discrete detail and hint of snakeskin belie an adoration of immaculate quality that would be at home on any cobblestoned Parisian street, and that sense of easy chic is priceless.

Malone-Souliers-shoes

Malone Souliers
With a keen eye for detail and an adoration of luxury, Mary Alice Malone – the genius behind the brand – brings new life to staples. Flawlessly, she blends pops of color, ropes of suede as ankle straps, sleek lines evocative of equestrian gear (unsurprising, as she was a member of the Junior Olympic Equestrian Team as a youth), and exotic skins into soles that demand to be worn to work and to a ritzy soiree after. Simplicity doesn’t denote mediocrity and Malone Soulier’s not-so-basic basics seal the deal. We especially love the strappy peeptoes and the ankle booties.

Charkviani-shoes

Charkviani
Charkviani is a brand with modern aesthetics with an international twist, aiming to make their footwear collections wearable art. Their shoes are fit with fringes, ruffles, patent tortoiseshell leather, and thick ombre plexiglass heels, making the concept not for the faint of heart, but for the fiercest of the fierce. Having aided the shoe designs of Diesel, Chloe, John Richmond, and Kanye West, Charkviani is leading the charge to make their own name.

Thomas-Lieuvin-shoes

Thomas Lieuvin
Dedicated to comfort and to style, Thoman Lieuvin is a brand that almost seems too good to be true. Fanciful and feminine, every minute detail of his collections – from the vamp zipper to the superfluously chic straps, from the combination of printed calf hair and vibrant leather – urges you to take a step out of your comfort zone and into a new, chic state of mind. Think of it as Alice waking up in a Technicolor Wonderland, where you are Alice and Technicolor Wonderland is Bergdorf Goodman.

Andrea-Wazen-shoes

Andrea Wazen
After studying fashion design in Paris and learning the ropes from internships at Rupert Sanderson, Elie Saab and Christian Louboutin, Andrea Wazen launched her own namesake luxury shoe line. Her designs exude feminine elegance topped off with their own “distinct personality” which you can shop at her beautiful boutique in Beirut, Lebanon.

Poise-Design-shoes

Poise Design
Candied apple sweet and Betty Page sassy, Poise Design is the perfect brand for the women who love a little (or a lot) of glitter to go with their electric pink, who love their pink loafers studded and their bows emblazoned with rhinestones. There is a very good chance that slipping into a pair of Poise Design’s shoes will make you feel like you’re playing a round of Pretty Pretty Princess, but when Cinderella herself would be jealous of your shoe collection, all you should feel is pride.

Karen-Gallo-shoes

Karen Gallo
If this day and age in fashion has one singular runaway trend that has exploded with unforeseen popularity, it’s blending urban flair with uptown sophistication and that fierce combination is honed to a gorgeous leather point in the hands of newcomer Karen Gallo. If structured lines, a monochromatic color palette, and contemporary verve is a hint of the collections to come, we’re officially waiting with bated breath.

Ffion-Lloyd-Shoes

Ffion Lloyd
Inspired by the gorgeous vibrancy and intricacy of nature, Ffion Lloyd is a London-based footwear designer specializing in bringing atoms, crystals, cells, and other little-noticed microcosms to fashion life. She’s worked for Tom Ford, Sophia Webster, and Marc Jacobs, which only spells a positive future for her solo career. We personally can’t wait to see the stunning, mother nature-inspired collections she creates.

Written by Shannon Weston

This week Marion Cotillard attended the premiere of her latest film, ‘Two Days, One Night’ during the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. As a veteran ambassador of Dior, she wore the brand head-to-toe including an off-white pleated silk sleeveless dress with a high-low hem from the Spring 2014 Couture collection.

These fresh-off-the-runway Resort 2015 wrap booties might have worked for a photo call but they’re much too heavy for this ultra-glamorous red carpet premiere. I wish she had taken a shoe cue from Jessica Chastain and Rosario Dawson by selecting a memorable statement pump.

Shoes She Should Have Worn:

Shoes-She-Should-Have-Worn-Marion-Cotillard
Stuart Weitzman Nudist ankle-strap sandal in lapis foil nappa
There’s a reason these are already the most celebrity-loved red carpet shoe of 2014, they’re the perfect strappy sandal and available in over a dozen styles.

Christian Dior Haute Couture silver buckle and cube chainmail heels rimmed with tiny roses
Marion wore these ‘modern pilgrim’ pumps to the recent Met Gala but I feel they deserve the spotlight once again. They’re exquisite and the most obvious choice as they were presented with her dress on the runway.

Nicholas Kirkwood navy satin & velvet PVC asymmetric sandals
These classic evening shoes complement the navy geometric floral appliqué and square sequin embroidery along the back of her dress.

Bionda Castana Daphne Bis white silk satin pump with a fine silver lace overlay
J’adore these romantic, feminine shoes which work with her stunning diamond encrusted oversized chain link necklace by Chopard.

Christian Louboutin tricolor Gwynitta patent leather strappy sandal
The Gwynitta is Julianne Moore’s Cannes shoe-of-choice and I would have loved to see Marion add this slight pop of teal to the mix.

Giannico Picasso pink & yellow patent leather, black satin and mirrored blue pump from the Fall 2014 collection
This is the wild card and my favorite choice for Marion. It’s easier to imagine them from this angle. I hope we see more of this burgeoning brand’s eclectic and elegant shoes on the red carpet soon.

Which pair do you like for Marion? Check out more Shoes She Should Have Worn posts.

Bailee Madison wore Giannico Scarlett satin pumps to TV Guide Magazine’s 2013 Hot List Party held at The Emerson Theatre in Hollywood. They’re from the Fall 2013 collection featuring black satin, scalloped-shaped edges and red patent leather lip detail.

I stumbled across this new designer on Instagram earlier this year. Italian designer, Nicolò Beretta is only 17-years-old! He’s definitely one to watch as his styles are both catching & elegant. You can shop one of my favorite fall styles online at G&B Negozi.

Bailee also wore a long sleeve Lost in Melody polka dot mesh top paired with BCBGeneration black stretch leggings. She finished her look with an ASOS red circle frame hard shell clutch bag.
