I’m usually drawn to higher heels ranging from 4.5 – 6″+ however I do also own quite a few, what I call, my “basic, walking-longer-distance” shoes. This slingback style is from the Pre-Spring 2013 collection featuring an open-toe, strappy cut-out design, two colors of metallic blue patent leather and contrasting animal-print snakeskin. Half sizes are available and I go 1/2 size up in Kirkwood’s sandals.

Kate Mara wore Nicholas Kirkwood platform pumps to the premiere of ‘Side Effects’ in NYC. These shoes are from the Pre-Spring 2013 collection featuring black suede, angled platform and white leather stitched swirly design. They’re available online at Moda Operandi and in aqua blue/pink at FarFetch.

She attended the event in support of her sister Rooney wearing a Givenchy techno jersey dress with a ruffled hem. It’s quite similar to the Miu Miu crepe dress she wore to an event last year. Kate also carried a Judith Leiber Donetta silver minaudière.

Rooney Mara wore Nicholas Kirkwood peep-toe platform slingback slingbacks to the premiere of ‘Side Effects’ in NYC. These shoes are from the Pre-Spring 2013 collection featuring nude patent leather and bubble platform. They’re available online in yellow at Neiman Marcus.

She walked the red carpet wearing an Alexander McQueen ivory paneled velvet & macramé cape dress. Rooney’s wearing a gorgeous dress but looks bored as ever. The simple nude sandal choice allowed the dress to shine and her hair was pulled back in a chignon.

Alexander McQueen Pre-Spring 2013 Collection

This pre-spring collection is the perfect precursor to the bee-inspired spring collection that we just saw presented last month at Paris Fashion Week.

The classic styles: the horn-shaped heel and skull peep-toe pump, are designed in bright orange, yellow & red. There are also several white leather designs and lucite sculpted heels.

My favorites styles are the simple ankle-strap sandal, snakeskin t-strap platform sandal and the chain-embellished gold ankle-strap sandal.
