Neil-Rodgers-Shoes

British-born and LA-based celebrity stylist Neil Rodgers has now added shoe designer to his repertoire. And with more than a decade’s worth of experience dressing A-list stars from head to toe, you know he’s one to turn to when it comes to all things fashionable. More importantly, he understands our need for comfort without ever, compromising style. Get to know the innovative designer and completely re-think about not slipping on some high heels whenever, wherever.

Neil-Rodgers-KarlaYou’ve worked as a stylist for more than 15 years now. What made you venture into the shoe designing business?

When putting a look together for a client, my favorite part of the process is always selecting the perfect shoe to compliment and bring together the look.  I’ve always loved the beauty, the shape, the lines and details of women’s shoes and the effect they have on the wearer in terms of posture, mood and appearance.  Their power is transformative. I wanted to create my own, more comfortable line of beautiful footwear for women, and so after studying at the Ars Sutoria School in Milan and finding the perfect factory to work with in Venice, the brand was born.

What/Who inspires your designs?

My main inspiration when I design is women. Women that are friends, contemporaries –iconic women from the past and present –some that I have met and others that I just admire.  I want to present a very modern, simple, updated version of elegance and wherever possible, combine this with increased comfort.

You put an emphasis on comfort. How do you achieve that in a high heel?Neil-Rodgers-Linda-pump

We increased the padding in the toe bed of our closed toe styles and work with a last with a slightly roomier toe bed.  The straps are strategically placed to hold and support the foot to minimize friction on sensitive areas and we only use the highest quality lining materials –which feel great against the bare foot.  These are beautiful, high shoes and so the term ‘comfort’ is relative, that said, compared with most similar ‘high’ pumps and sandals, we perform very well in comfort tests.

What for you, is the worst shoe trend that ever existed?

The first thing that comes to mind is the ‘sneakers with evening accessories’ trend (jewels, etc)  With the exception of the Roger Vivier ones, which I think work, I just don’t think they ever looked right.

Favorite shoe trend/style?

I like clean, very modern yet feminine lines. Chic!  Chic is always on trend.Neil-Rodgers-Kristin-Sandal

Who would you like to see wearing your shoes?

I would love to see Charlize Theron in a pair of our Stella sandals (she does already own a pair)

Which celebrity do you think has the best shoe style?

Sarah Paulson has a pretty good shoe game going on.

Name three styles of shoes that every woman should own.

Classic, high, pointy pump.  Practical everyday pointy flats.  Strappy, high, barely there sandal.

Neil-Rodgers-PhoebeWhat is the inspiration behind your Spring/Summer collection?

I took a vacation to the Hawaiian Island of Kauai and was taken aback by the color and beauty in nature there. The flowers and plants, the birds, the landscape.  Natural beauty.

Describe the perfect (non-dress) outfit to go with a pair of Petras.

Petra is a versatile style.  Dress up with feminine, cropped, wide leg pants or down with worn in, cuffed, calf length denim.

Chiara Ferragni Collection Pow Bang sandals | 4.5″/115mm | shop at Zappos and CFC

Top style blogger & influencer Chiara Ferragni launched her namesake shoe collection in 2010 with the signature glitter covered ‘Flirting’ flats slowly adding more & more heels to the collection every season. The Spring ’16 ‘Heroes to the Rescue’ shoes are whimsical as ever drawing inspiration from Wonder Woman-esque superheroes and exaggerated comic strip pop art sound effects.

This Pow Bang slip-on mule is one of our favorite styles from this collection featuring two-tone blue leather with a thin toe strap, red patent leather ‘Pow’ & ‘Bang’ appliqué and zig-zag trimmed front strap. It’s available in whole sizes only and alternatively stocked in a funky fun yellow silk satin. We’re also crazy about the blue ‘Stars’ sandals!

There’s a flower for everyone including cherry blossoms, sweet perennials and a multi-color bouquet…but we’re particularly drawn to this Iris sandal.

They feature a natural beige raffia body, thin tapered stiletto heel, circle shaped straps embroidered throughout with bright red wildflowers, side ankle-tie close embellished with tassels and tan leather lining. Half sizes are available.

Kate Beckinsale wore Brian Atwood Tamara sandals to to the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. They’re from the Spring 2014 collection featuring mirrored gold leather, thin cross straps and buckled ankle strap. We’ve also these shoes on Sandra BullockNaomi Watts and Juliette Lewis. Until this style hits retail you can find the latest collection at Saks Fifth AvenueNeiman Marcus and Brian Atwood.

She was easily one of the best dressed stars wearing a bronze sleeveless Elie Saab sequin gown with a high side slit and cutout back from the Archive collection. With her hair styled in those signature picture perfect curls, she put the finishing touches on the look with Copernicus earrings by H.Stern.

Kate also carried a Rauwolf gold Emerald Cut Gemstone clutch.

Ashley-Spiker-Liam-Fahy-shoes

London based shoe designer, Liam Fahy has designed a vibrant Spring 2013 collection titled ‘Congo’. He’s been on my radar for awhile and I’ve been particularly fond of the Charlotte pumps ever since Alexis Bledel wore them several years ago. Liam was also a winner of the recent “New Gen” award presented by The British Fashion Council.

This collection was influenced by a 1951 classic movie, ‘African Queen’ starring the iconic Katherine Hepburn. The African-inspired designs feature hand printed Java-textiles from Tanzania & Zimbabwe, zebra-print suede, appliqué and mix of materials.

My three favorite designs are the Charlotte pump (pictured on me), Brigitte snakeskin sandal and Lis patent leather sandal.

As far as flats go, the Colette slipper is in this month’s Vogue UK and has the same yellow print adorned with a Congolese mask. There’s also the Becky loafer featuring a giant fur pom pom.

You can shop this collection online at Liam Fahy.

Jimmy-Choo-Diffuse-sandal-Emmy-Rossum

Emmy Rossum wore Jimmy Choo Diffuse lace-up sandals to the 21st Annual ‘A Night at Sardi’s Gala’ held in Los Angeles. These shoes are from the Cruise 2013 collection featuring mirrored gold patent leather and 120mm heel. Diffuse is available online in metallic blue snakeskin and silver at Nordstrom, silver at Saks Fifth Avenue and gold/blue/zebra glitter at Jimmy Choo & Jimmy Choo UK.

I like Emmy’s Tory Burch gold sequin-embellished girly frock and however I find her golden smokey eye & petunia pink lip distracting from an otherwise beautiful outfit. She wore her hair up in a 1920s finger wave-inspired faux-bob and also accessorized with lilac nails.

Check out more shoes spotted on Emmy.

Manolo didn’t have as many collaborations in London as he did in New York, I count 5 total including the flat sandals he designed for Richard Nicoll. I always look forward to the Antonio Berardi collaboration and this time we saw blue & tan leather strappy heels.

I wasn’t crazy about Louboutin’s designs at NYFW since many of them were styles seen from previous collections, however, London was another story! My favorite shoes are the heels seen on Mary Katrantzou’s runway. We did see one style, the Crazy Fur pump, which debuted in the Fall/Winter 2012 collection redesigned into lighter colors for Spring in Michael van der Ham’s collection.

Nicholas Kirkwood
You never know what to expect from Kirkwood’s collaborations, the designs are always so different every season. For Spring 2013 he created a chunky t-strap platform for Erdem featuring metallic leather, python and floral print. The Peter Pilotto sandals have received a lot of attention and were named ‘Accessory of the Day’ on WWD. He mixed digital baroque-style prints with black & white woven leather, patent leather and completely beaded laces.

Kirkwood’s heels were also seen on the Jean Pierre-Braganza runway along with Alejandro Ingelmo.

Matthew Williamson
To celebrate the brand’s 15 anniversary, Williamson debuted a signature footwear line in collaboration with shoe designer Joanne Stoker. These heels feature heavy embellishment and fun sculpted, wavy platforms. The shoe line is set to hit stores next summer.

Charlotte Olympia
This season Charlotte Olympia designed the Serena sandal in many different colors & textures for the Temperley London Spring 2013 collection. We first saw this sandal in Olympia’s Spring 2012 Siren collection. You can find the Serena available in white satin from the Runaway Bride collection online at Charlotte Olympia.

Mulberry
How cute! The printed floral printed silk reminds me of Tabitha Simmons’ designs. These sandals feature small flower studs, leather edges and a flower buckle.

Jennifer-Lawrence-Giuseppe-Zanotti-Heels

***Update: Check out the new Giuseppe Zanotti Fall 2012 Collection***

Giuseppe Zanotti’s Spring 2012 collection is diverse, gigantic and amazing. In the video below Giuseppe describes his collection as energetic with strong colors, featuring suede, patent leather, fabrics and disproportionate elements such as very high platforms.

We’ve already seen some of the striking designs, like in Anna Dello Russo’s Christmas video and on Diane Kruger and Nicole Scherzinger. Check out more celebrities spotted in Spring 2012 designs. Late last year I purchased the heelless back suede wedge and I love it! Check out Zanotti’s e-Boutique for more spring shoes.
