For Dean and Dan these prim n’ proper show-stompers were the perfect finishing touches for their “samurai x Victorian x combat Fall 2016 collection“. They feature layers upon layers of fine floral lace, tassel fringe trim, black silk, high embellished backing, lace printed insole and double ankle strap. Plus, burrowed in the nest of lace there’s a triple pearl drop charm. Half sizes are available.
We are slightly obsessed with the Giannico Spring 2016 collection by Nicolò Beretta. One of the obvious standouts from the collection is this signature Picasso Mule slip-on heel featuring striped yellow silk, baby blue leather, thin buckled front strap with geometric leather floral embellishments. Half sizes are available (shipping out March 15). Keep your eyes posted, we’re featuring our review on the entire spring collection tomorrow!
Once you get your hands…errr…we mean your feet rather, into these shoes, prepare to immediately group message your girlfriends because you’d want to party plan, stat. But not just any party. You’d want a fancy soiree that screams Alice in Wonderland, Marie Antoinette, fairy tale balls, English gardens, quirky hats, parasols and sipping tea with pinkies in the air –that’s how whimsical the collection is. And don’t be embarrassed if you suddenly want to conjure up a butler who announces: “Your carriage awaits, Madam.”
Liudmila founder Najeeba was inspired by photos of the Nizams of Hyderabad –the Indian rulers of the Mughal Empire. Even if they were just re-touched photographs, she was captivated by the images of the abandoned palaces and perhaps, imagined all the exciting events that took place in such magnificent party playgrounds. Najeeba then created a color palette that seemingly paints the story of royals who were always ready to celebrate. Pearlescent leather in jewel and candy-like hues such as pink, purple, baby blue, silver and ivory –all exude opulence that is eminently approachable.
Najeeba ensures that her heels never go above 100 mm because she believes shoes should enhance and not hinder your life. But where it lacks in height, it makes up for statement-making style.
Channel your inner Disney Princess when you slip into the Mame ankle- strap sandals in periwinkle or blush suede, adorned with a chunky crystal and ostrich feathers. Or shoe gems like the Sari –curved platform wedges in amethyst or bubblegum pink satin, with gold or silver tassels you can tie around your ankles or up your calf –for the warrior princesses out there, perhaps? The delicately-sloped Piali kitten heels in gold or silver nappa are charmingly tied with floral-printed bows –like little presents for playful ballerinas.
And if princesses were to saddle up their horses, there’s the Juba short boot with a 50 mm heel, a dainty lilac pearl color and a fun cut-out design at the front. Not that you’ll need any mode of transportation, really. These fantastic shoes were made for walking (you’d want to find opportunities to flaunt them all the time, anyway).
Who needs Prince Charming when you can get your happy ever after with these precious shoes?
About the author: Romina Tobias is a freelance fashion and lifestyle writer who is also a hopeless shoe-addict. She thinks her 5’4″ height and her love for long walks make her deserving of all the stilettos, pumps, sandals and ballet flats in the world. If only the cupcakes she expertly bakes can be traded in for a new pair (or two, or hopefully, more).
CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTINCasanovella fringe sandals – don’t they make you want to prance & sashay around? We’re crazy for the long front fringe panel which falls nicely on the front – you can also find them in a fun textured navy variation resembling denim.
DSQUARED2 embellished black lace-up sandals – they have such a strong strappy footwear collection this season…we love all of them but especially this sexy shoe covered in gold hardware with a patent leather stitch design.
AQUAZZURATutto Buckle sandals; easily one of the best designs of the season and our personal favorite. They’re carried exclusively at MyTheresa and also available in black leather or leopard print calf hair at Moda Operandi.
GIANNICOSuper Lola nude & red lip pump; designer Nicolò Beretta picked up the award for best footwear at Vogue’s ‘Who Is On Next?’ 2015 competition and you can find several playful styles from the fall collection now stocked at LuisaViaRoma.
CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTINHoughton May white platform sandal – okay, technically this style debuted in the Marchesa Spring’15 runway show but we’re still in love with it – plus, since I live in Miami they’re an appropriate “florida winter white”. It’s also carried in black and white.

Chances are, if you’re into shoes that amp up the style and add a hefty dose of quirk, you are already well versed in the gorgeous creations of Charlotte Olympia. You’ve pinned kitty-inspired pumps onto Pinterest boards, you’ve re-blogged countless shots of your zodiac emblem on gorgeous suede shoes, and you’ve flipped through every Art Deco movement- and fairy tale-influenced sole until you’ve memorized every stitch. Charlotte Olympia is emblematic of a burgeoning empire, based on classic shapes laden with a kitsch twist; she told Vogue UK, “the essence of my brand comes from my love of old Hollywood glamour. […] The Forties and Fifties are bygone eras that I am nostalgic for, and they play a huge part on the sensibility of the brand. I like to give my collections a soul and a story, and a little sense of humour.”
This time around, Charlotte Dellal – the genius behind Charlotte Olympia – is taking us on a voyage. Sure, her standard use of glitter and sequins have been placed into fins and sea stars alike, and the classic white and navy sailor stripe is prevalent, but we’re thoroughly impressed by the new tricks up her sleeve. Rope is knotted and carefully placed, a blonde mermaid figurehead is fixed onto a wedge calming turbulent seas sidewalks, classic sailor tattoo prints cover pumps and gorgeous suede is laser cut to look like coral. Just when you think she’s found her niche, she explores new techniques and wows us again. She’s even created waterproof sandals with a foam wedge and silicone straps, because stylish shoes shouldn’t be confined solely to land.
Our favorite designs include the fish-centric “Catch of the Day” pump, the lobster t-strap sandal with beaded trim, “Splash” – where an upside down mermaid tail has taken the place of the heel, and the “Save our Shoes” design, which takes the classic S.O.S. message in a bottle motif to a new level. Some may say that she went overboard, but we think this collection is sure to take your style full speed ahead!
The best part about this nautical collection is that some of the pieces are available for order now, which means you can order some beach-ready looks just in time for the summer season. These shoes are sure to make your peers – and the Little Mermaid herself – envious.
