My favorite Disney starlet posed wearing Paper London’s signature cropped top paired with a black silk blend Milano structured cocktail skirt from the Spring 2013 collection.
Bella styled her ginger hair in cascading curls and also accessorized with a red watersnake Vincent minaudière by Rebecca Minkoff. Roseark provided the jewels including a moonstone pendant necklace and matching drop earrings.
Resort, Cruise, Pre-Spring – whatever you call it, I like it! These inter-season styles are a welcome change after a gloomy winter filled with heavy boots. Cruise is now one the biggest and most important seasons of the year for both retailers & brands (including Chanel!).
The yummy colors are a breath of fresh air and designed for frolicking around the Caribbean or other tropical destinations. Many times I much prefer the playful cruise styles over the spring collections. This season is delicious as ever with Jimmy Choo’s pastel gelato heels and Charlotte Olympia’s Sweet Talk confectionary creations.
Here’s a look at some of my favorite new resort arrivals:
Some people are born knowing what they want to do when they grow up, others never find out, and sometimes the path only becomes clear when they’ve committed themselves to another passion. For Rome-born Charline De Luca, she discovered her adoration for shoes while attending the New York Institute of Technology for architecture. After finishing her degree in New York, she sought to study accessory design at the Central Saint Martins School in London. After graduating in early 2011, she returned to Rome to fulfill her “Made in Italy” destiny, crafting her first sole-ful collection.
In the four subsequent seasons, she developed a distinctive image that blended her adoration of architecture with striking modernity – a combination that has piqued the interest of many fashionable connoisseurs and leading voices in the industry, going so far as to being a featured finalist in accessories for Vogue Italia’s prestigious Who Is On Next? competition. For her Spring 2014 collection she’s upped the ante, delivering designs that stay true to her trademarks (we could write sonnets about her signature cutout wedge with mirrored panels) while incorporating new techniques and materials.
Vibrant jewel tones such as ruby red and sapphire blue are cast into snakeskin straps, triangular shapes of leather create a dramatic silhouette and towering modern chunky block heels combine to create a collection that is as cutting edge as it is aesthetically arresting. Our favorite designs include the varying metallic shades of the Elettra sandal (why choose one tone of metal when you can wear them all?); the geometrically paneled Regina lace up sandal that brings new life to high-shine spotted leather; and the pale daffodil Rea wedge, which is a perfect blend of sleek and romantic.
And now, with her gorgeous architecturally-inspired designs being sold at four-star shoestablishments such as LuisaViaRoma, Shoescribe, and Saks Fifth Avenue, this sartorially gifted up-and-coming designer should be first on your list of “designers to watch.”

Jimmy Choo is one of the most sought-after shoe brands out there right now, with each design being positively stunning and each season being perfectly on-trend. For the 2014 Cruise collection, it’s business as usual and the line is practically bursting with handmade, gotta-have designs.
As expected, the collection’s stars are strappy high heeled wonders, whether classically done in monochromatic supple suede, playing with color blocking (like our favorite tri-colored Sunday style), imbued with dazzling metallic leather, or going completely out of the box with a mixed media sandal complete with a colorful PVC panel. That’s really what makes this collection special – the materials used. We can’t get enough of the delicate pastels, the perforated white leather mixed with dramatic contrasting trim, sparkling petrol-colored glitter, shimmering leopard print, and iridescent leather transforming traditional pumps into head turners. These unique uses of materials enhance the shape of every shoe and elevate it to a new level of sophistication and playfulness.
Judging by the old film star sex appeal of the campaign – specifically citing the free spirited and carefree attitude reminiscent of the 1960s Brigitte Bardot era – it was expected that the sleek sophistication we associate with Jimmy Choo has been embellished with whimsical, strappy attitude. Nicole Kidman stars in the cruise campaign, rocking blow-out waves and lensed by Camilla Akrans. Behind the scenes, the Hollywood star gushed, “I really enjoyed being able to play a role that was playful and free of any inhibitions referencing iconic actresses from the ‘60s. I embraced the feeling of summer holidays spent at the beach where you always feel up for a dare and having fun.”
Cruise looks have already been spotted on Krysten Ritter, Katy Perry, and Jennifer Lawrence. Jimmy Choo’s pastel gelato heels are a perfect way to inject the fall and winter greys with verve and spice. What are you waiting for? Order a pair now and delight in the happy vibrancy and effortless style it adds to your wardrobe.

Taylor Swift wore Dolce & Gabbana peep-toe d’Orsay pumps to the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show held at Lexington Avenue Armory in NYC. They feature a green suede front and snakeskin heel with a double wrap ankle strap. You can find a similar style in black patent leather at Profile Fashion.
She also chose a beautiful long sleeve black silk blend mini dress by Zuhair Murad with multicolored floral sequin embroidery from the Fall 2013 collection. Leaving her signature country glam curls behind, Taylor’s medium blonde hair was styled in a gorgeous bombshell blowout.
She finished her look with a sapphire cocktail ring and ruby pinky ring by Lorraine Schwartz.
