Ashley-ShoeRazzi-summer-2013

I realized I haven’t posted about any of my new shoes since March so I figured it’s probably time for an update. I can’t believe it’s already December! The year has flown by and I’ve been enjoying every minute of it. After an adventurous summer trying to figure out where to call our new home, we settled in Miami Beach a couple months ago. It’s unlike any other place in the country; life is sunny, spicy and full of (deco) art here.

Since the Footwear News conference in May, I traveled a bit throughout the summer and attended FFANY in June where I met many lovely designers including Gio Diev, Charlotte Olympia, Amina from Oscar Tiye, Natalia from Bionda Castana, and Jerome C. Rousseau.

I also met fashion writer & editor Valeria Boucas while previewing Jerome C. Rousseau’s collection. I was flattered when she asked to write a small piece about ShoeRazzi on her new blog – you can read more about my blog’s beginnings at Valeria Boucas.

Here’s a look at the shoes I’ve added to my collection:

Valentino-Clear-Rockstud-pump
(If you ran into me this summer, odds are I was wearing one of these outfits. In the left photo I paired them with a Zara top & Free People cutoffs and to the right, a Joie jacket worn with a Helmut Lang sleeveless knit + Rag & Bone leather shorts.)

I adore these Valentino clear Rockstud strappy pumps which were one of the first shoes I purchased last season. I still can’t bring myself to wear a full on PVC shoe but this design allows my feet to breathe. They’re now available in black leather with smokey PVC straps and black studs at Forward by Elyse Walker.

The first shoe pictured is the Amma embellished sandal bootie from Sophia Webster’s debut collection (found at her online store). I love the ikat-printed taffeta and multicolor beaded trim.

The Manolo Blahnik Charly sandals were a super lucky find on eBay! They’re from an older collection in black canvas embellished with two oversize buckled straps.

On a NY trip I visited the Jean-Michel Cazabat flagship store and purchased these Omayra thin strappy sandals in fuchsia snake-print leather.

Christian-Louboutin-Stardust-pump

J’adore these stunning Christian Louboutin Stardust pale pink satin pumps with a crystal-embellished black lace overlay. Snagged at a special sale, I plan to wear these boudoir-inspired pumps with a floor-length black silk satin dress.

Manolo-Blahnik-Anastasia-pump

This Anastasia multicolor flag-trimmed cutout pump was my favorite style from Manolo Blahnik’s Fall 2011 collection. I think they look even cuter worn with black stockings.

Charlotte-Olympia-silver-Belinda-platform-booties

This is the most romantic and opulent shoe I own! These Charlotte Olympia Belinda platform sandals sold out almost immediately but I found them at Neiman Marcus in Las Vegas. They feature laser cut metallic silver leather and you can find them in white suede at Matches, Net-A-Porter and Charlotte Olympia.

Roberto-Cavalli-Spring-2013-ankle-strap-sandal

This is a classic ankle-strap by Roberto Cavalli embellished with a gold-tone sculpted heel, ankle bijoux and metallic pointed-toe which juts out from underneath the small platform. They appeared later in season on Cavalli’s web site but I purchased them at the Las Vegas boutique.

Shoerazzi-summer-2013

I rarely feature flats but now that I walk everywhere here in Miami, they’re an important wardrobe staple. Chanel espadrilles (featured in my last update post) are a perfect shoe for this city and I also wear Converse sneakers, Nikes & Christian Louboutin ballet flats.

Converse-suede-fall-2013

This is the epitome of a “fall” look here in Miami (no jacket required!)…I’m wearing a sleeveless knit dress from Bank Fashion & suede Converse sneakers from Size UK.

Del-Toro-loafers
Del Toro slippers worn with a white Versus Versace dress from a few season ago and IRO grey denim top, Prada bag.

Del Toro is a luxury shoe brand based here in Miami. They make shoes for both men and women and have a fresh design approach blending creative designer Matthew Chevallard’s Italian heritage with a Palm Beach prep aesthetic.

I’m wearing pretty pink & white scrunched gingham slippers featuring the signature red grosgrain heel stripe. Del Toro carries sneakers, drivers, espadrilles, Chelsea boots and more. I can’t wait to visit the boutique here! There are also several customizable options and I think they’re a perfect Christmas present.

The Spring 2014 collection is adorable and available for a limited time on pre-order at Moda Operandi:

Christian-Louboutin-So-Kate-pumps
I’m wearing the ‘So Kate’ paired with a printed Equipment top and Vince textured leather leggings.

I grabbed these So Kate pumps in black leather at the Christian Louboutin boutique in SoHo. Many readers have asked about the fit compared to the Pigalle…So Kate has a different toe box, vamp, stiletto shape and unlike the Pigalle, it doesn’t have the elastic band in the back of the heel. I appreciate both classic styles and love the sleek long toe on the So Kate.

They’re currently available in python-faience at Saks Fifth Avenue and several other styles at Christian Louboutin.

Sofia-Webster-hologram-shoes-Fall-2013-sandals
Sophia Webster sandals worn with a Lamb Chop cropped sweater & Zara leather pencil skirt.

I paid a visit to the Saks Fifth Avenue 10022 SHOE floor the day these Sophia Webster Leoni booties arrived. They’re from the Fall 2013 collection featuring hologram leather, black embroidery and 100mm heel. Leoni is available at Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-A-Porter and Sophia Webster (also in black suede).

Christian-Louboutin-Psycho-suede-leather-boots

It hasn’t been cold enough to wear these Christian Louboutin Psycho boots yet but I’m bringing them along for our winter travels. They’re from the Fall ’12 collection in black suede with an almond toe and swirled panels of black leather.

Roger-Vivier-Prismick-sandals
Roger Vivier sandals wore with an older See by Chloé cutout dress and Chanel Boy bag.

It was love at first sight after seeing these Roger Vivier Prismick t-strap sandals on Emma Stone. They feature a tapered t-strap, panels of stone leather and textured yellow leather on top of black suede and 120mm heel.

Oscar-Tiye-Casanda-booties

Oscar Tiye is my current brand crush. We’ve spotted their styles on Zoe SaldanaJulianne Hough and Hailee Steinfeld. I’m wearing one of the signature designs, Casandra, from the Fall 2013 collection in black leather with a lace-up front, cutout leather straps, suede trim and 110mm heel. The fit is amazing and with a 4.3″ heel, I can wear these all night. Casandra is available at LuisaViaRoma and Antonioli.

Other classic styles include: Christian Louboutin Pigalle in nude patent leather, Gazolina thigh-high leather boots and Daffodil suede platform boot

Thank you for you continued readership and I will try and share more personal posts in 2014. In the meantime, I post snapshots of my shoes more frequently on Instagram.

This post is a continuation from Part 1 which I wrote a couple months ago. I love writing these trend posts but they seem to take forever to finish (I started collecting images around last October)!

5 more Spring 2013 shoe trends:

Spring-2013-shoes-oversized-bucklesWe’ve already seen these oversized buckles hit the red carpet and they’ve been spotted on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kerry Washington, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Hudson.

Heidi Klum also wore a striped sandal with a large buckle by Saint Laurent this week at New York Fashion Week.

Fringed footwear is fun to wear and I like how it splashes around my feet as I walk. I really like the layered design by Choo which features a pink rayon and brown suede fringe. Christian Louboutin also used fringe detailing on a suede boot which Jessica Biel’s been wearing.

Woven-leather-shoes-Spring-2013
Woven leather is the second most popular trend in footwear this season next to mixed media. It’s used differently by each designer, for example, Charlotte Olympia used a white leather to create a playful basket-looking island platform.

And I almost forgot to add an important one, look at these Givenchy white & black woven sandals!

Styles available online from the collage above: Sergio Rossi Clash woven cap-toe pump, Daniele Michetti grommet sandal

Spring-2013-t-strap-shoes-Louboutin-Casadei

These t-stap pumps are ladylike yet so sexy at the same time. I can’t help but think of Dita Von Teese who often wears this style. Side note, take a look at her shoe collection!

Kate Beckinsale was the first celeb to wear these Casadei pumps with the sculpted blade heel last month.

Styles available online from the collage above: Christian Louboutin V Neck pump in red, Casadei pump with blade heel in black & red

Spring-2013-shoes-wooden-inserts

Rounding out the shoe trends, an obvious style seen in several designer’s collections has been the use of wooden inserts and wooden details. As a prominent example, I love how Cate Blanchett wore this Givenchy sandal to a premiere last December.

Noticeable Spring/Summer 2013 shoe trends:

Iridescence

This reflective technique was the first trend I noticed. Designers have used it on both snakeskin and patent leather. It’s also seen in Dior and Pierre Hardy’s collections (not pictured).

Stella McCartney seems to be one step ahead & if you can’t wait until spring, she designed a faux-leather iridescent pump available at Bergdorf Goodman.

Mixed Media Madness
There are several obvious examples of this mixed media trend and I chose designs featuring 3 or more different materials. The styles below are colorful and show the designers’ playful side.

For me, the combination of different textures & colors is a hit-or-miss. Christian Louboutin uses mixed media wildly throughout his collection.

Embroidery

I love embroidered details, they give a fun, special touch. Barbara Bui and Balmain have several styles completely embroidered whereas Rupert Sanderson & Isa Tapia feature parts of the shoe embroidered with tropical birds.

Nectarine

Looking through Style.com’s Accessories Index I’ve spotted several orangey tones. Then I saw nectarine listed on the Pantone Spring 2013 Fashion Color Report which has also migrated to footwear. Nectarine has a warm coral touch and is also a skin flattering tone.

Kristen Stewart wore Barbara Bui ankle-strap pumps for her appearance on ‘El Hormiguero’ in Madrid. These heels are from the Spring 2013 collection featuring a black & white print and a studded ankle-strap. This pump will be available at Barbara Bui in Beverly Hills & NYC.

She wore a dark grey top by Alternative Apparel and Rebecca Minkoff Alex shorts with black leather pockets. Kristen also accessorized with a Cartier Juste un Clou and Iwona Ludyga Tribe Beaded Flag bracelet, Scapular necklace by Francisca Botelho and silver watch.

There are several new shoes at Moda Operandi worth mentioning! I first wrote about all of these styles in my London and Milan Fashion Week posts.

The Nicholas Kirkwood for Peter Pilotto shoes, as usual, received lots of attention during London Fashion Week. There’s so much going on and yet everything works beautifully together.

I have mixed feeling about the Versace shoes. I was excited when I saw the lace-up booties on the runway however I’m not crazy about the side stitching, it reminds me of an ice-skater + caveman shoe.

Matthew Williamson debuted a new signature footwear line to celebrate the brand’s 15 anniversary. The platform sandals feature heavy embellishment and sculpted, wavy platforms.

You pay a 50% deposit and the other half is due when the item is ready to be shipped.
