Designer Shoes: Miu Miu

by:Zenzhu
Fashion month may have officially wrapped up, but we still aren’t ready to double-air-kiss goodbye the shoes we spied on the Paris catwalks. So grab a box of macarons and enjoy our little runway recap of the most stylish shoes that dazzled in the City of Light.

Oliver Rouesting successfully showed how the female lines and curves can be celebrated even while completely covered up. Legs gained extra mileage with stretch suede boots that seemingly went on forever. The stilettos boots paired with opaque tights highlighted the sexy female form, without the skin doing a peek-a-boo act.

Matching the shiny brocade jackets, lacy tops and elegant evening gowns were chic and cool lace-up ankle booties with sneaker-like gold lace holes, pumps with chunky criss-cross straps and flat boots with button and snap details at the back shaft.

It was a great display of modern aesthetics on the Dior runway. Lace-up, pointed-toe boots got multiple treatments –croc and snakeskin with cut-out details make for awesome work-to-play shoes. Their ankle heel counterparts are just as fab with its laces and side strap combo. The color and print blocking action, mixing reptile prints with neutrals, make these stunning shoes a staple in your mixing and matching pursuits.

For club kids who always just want to have fun. Zebra-striped pixie booties were adorned with studs and the buckled flats were worn with matching socks for an overall boot effect that screams, 80s.

Your oversized ski jacket can now either be paired with go-go boots in your neutral color of choice, or satin pumps encrusted with sparkly accoutrements. And if you want your legs to be entirely covered in print, there are thigh-high boots for you with matching coats.

Ricardo Tisci has basically turned boots into pieces of clothing. The slender and sleek design either stopped at the knee or higher until it covered the leg like a pair of bottoms. Some sported nude toneswhile others in an edgier python print, accented with leather uppers flashing orange or gold hues. Metal heels also had a unique conical shape with graphic patterned in-lays.

Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Stella-McCartneyStella McCartney
It was the perfect mix of charm and chic. Low-block heels with a pointed toe in gray and white, make for the perfect professional shoe you can take to playtime as well. Leather pumps even got some leather trimmings and can definitely add a flirty and feminine touch to a power suit.

Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Giambattista-ValliGiambattista Valli
Classic and demure, feminine and fancy –fitting for the Parisian high society. Black pumps got extra strappy with its ladder-style, gladiator form. Black pointy flats were cutesy with its bow detail at the cap –we say “Oui” to its subtle and charming elegance.

Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-ChanelChanel
An equestrian theme would of course call for bucket hats with chinstraps and of course, riding boots. These tall riding boots with a cut-out detail at the ankle sported a wingtip brogue and dainty silver eyelets. In magenta, black, denim and gold, the boots were striking contrasts to the tweed jacket and coats draped with pearls.

Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-ValentinoValentino
The shoes perfectly matched the not-so basic, neutral color palette. A play on the classics –we are treated to heeled Mary Janes and strappy slingback sandals bedazzled with tiny crystals with matching ribbed socks. Then of course, the signature Rockstud ballet flats were also updated with the same iconic strap.

Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Louis-VuittonLouis Vuitton
The Louis Vuitton woman for fall is a heroine with style and attitude, plus a street cred to match. Nicolas Ghesquière presented lace-front combat boots in high-shine black or blue, or infused with the sporty details of kicks (now you get to know what it feels like to wear rubber shoes with heels).

Paris-Fashion-Week-Fall-2016-Miu-MiuMiu Miu
The concept of “less is more” did not exist on the Miu Miu runway. Suede boots and satin pumps were super fierce with their pin-thin heels. Even the back of the pumps were accented with bows on the back. Fur slides a.k.a. our dream bedroom slippers got a dose of sparkle, with its sprinkling of crystals and pearls. A standout piece and something worthy to be displayed inside a glass case would be the brocade pumps with a one-of-a-kind structural embellishment on the back.

About the author: zenzhu is a freelance fashion and lifestyle writer who is also a hopeless shoe-addict. He thinks her 5’4″ height and her love for long walks make her deserving of all the stilettos, pumps, sandals and ballet flats in the world. If only the cupcakes she expertly bakes can be traded in for a new pair (or two, or hopefully, more).

Winter is upon us, which can only mean one thing for the ever-moving world of fashion: Spring shoes are just around the corner and a heap of new trends is going to come with it. It’s intimidating, but have no fear! While you’ve been zipping up your knee high boots, we’ve been hot on the trail of the best shoe styles of the upcoming season. Even though it was difficult to narrow it down, here are the trends we’re most looking forward to for Spring 2014:

Mules: Not to be confused with the animal, mules are shoes characterized by their exposed heel and this Spring 2014 season they are everywhere. Backless shoes are a trend everyone can rock, as they come in a myriad of heights. We spotted them on the catwalks of mega-brands Alexander Wang, Chloé, Stella McCartney, and Céline. Our faves? Of course, Gianvito Rossi is the master of the mule – he even designed Altuzarra’s gorgeous runway mules – but, we also can’t help but love Monique Lhuillier’s gorgeous use of PVC in her heel-baring designs and Christian Louboutin’s bead-embellished creations.

Placid Blue: This icy-toned blue is one of Pantone’s top picks for the Spring 2014 season. Dubbed “placid blue,” this hue does indeed have a calming and serene quality about it and designers latched onto it for their warmer weather designs. Used as both the main color and as an accenting neutral, we love the way this normally subversive color is taking control this season. From the curved heel of Walter Steiger’s glorious pump to Miu Miu’s chunky heeled platform, this color has proven itself to be much more than an Easter egg favorite.

Freesia: As if to tell placid blue to move over and share the stage, this Pantone pick is a blazing yellow that commands attention. Freesia is the color of electric citrus, and where placid blue is a blue sky, freesia is the smoldering sun. Just a glimpse at the color instantly energizes you, which is why it isn’t surprising that designers such as Giuseppe Zanotti, Nicholas Kirkwood, Prada, ShoeRazzi favorite Jerome C. Rousseau, and John Galliano (spotted on the trendy heels of Rita Ora) have all utilized this vibrant color. After all, there is no better way to add a kick of ferocity to an outfit than with a sick pair of shoes!

Sporty: This spring, the femininity of high heels are combining with an unexpected element: sportiness. We briefly delved into this trend in our recap of the hottest shoes on the Milanese runways, but this trend is proving to be much more than a footnote. Whether it’s through the use of athletic materials such as perforated leather (Daniele Michetti), woven nylon (Balenciaga), and neoprene (John Galliano), or through design like Emilio Pucci’s padded leather straps, Prada’s rubber bumpers and sole, or Christian Dior’s sneaker laces, it’s clear that one of the hottest trends of Spring 2014 is combining urban style with luxury.

Funky Embellishments: For the past couple seasons, wild embellishments have been a designer standby to make their shoes really stand out, and this season is no different. We’re seeing a wealth of extravagant and unique embellishments that are making classic shoe designs total statement makers. From Sophia Webster’s spunky and vibrant butterfly wings to Bionda Castana’s ingenious use of lace and silicone to create a leopard print, using embellishments is the go-to way to make your shoes the most enviable soles on the block. Christian Louboutin even got in on the trend with his darling doorknocker embellishments and that’s how you know it’s a must-follow trend.

Spring-2014-embellished-shoes-trends

dash-line (1)

Floral Appliqué: Along the same vein of embellishments, another incredibly popular trend during this upcoming spring and summer season is the use of floral appliqués. It makes sense when you think about it: what better way to celebrate warm weather’s flowers and gorgeous variety of colors than using those very vessels of vibrancy as shoe-spiration? The flowers range from subtle (Christian Dior, Brian Atwood) to a veritable bouquet (we’re looking at you Aperlai and Kotur!), but no matter the size of the flower, we love the elegance and femininity it effortlessly conveys.

Beaded: By this time, you’re probably sensing a theme: next season is all about personality-filled shoes. The more accoutrements the better. Following the shoe jewelry trend (shoewlry? We’ll work on a name for this, we promise), some of the hottest shoes you’ll be seeing in Spring 2014 are ornately beaded works of footwear art. Emilio Pucci’s Masai-inspired beading is picture perfect, Paul Andrew’s floral inspiration combines two trends in one pump, and Aperlai’s caviar beaded platform shoes – seen on Willow Shields during The Hunger Games: Catching Fire press tour – is edgy while still being darling. However, the shoe that takes the bead-embellished cake is definitely Jerome C. Rousseau’s multi-beaded, multi-dimensional heel, which is sure to turn heads.

Miu Miu Polka Dot Sandal

This post is a part of a new series I recently started on ShoeRazzi called Which Shoes? I recently chose 4 sandals and the readers voted on which shoe I should purchase. I was a little surprised when I saw that the Miu Miu polka dot platform sandal was the reader’s favorite choice. This sandal is very cute & I wanted to share my in-depth review:

Video review:

Details: 5 1/2 inch heel | 1 1/2 inch platform | from the Resort 2011 collection | available online at MyTheresaBergdorf Gooman and Neiman Marcus.

Color: Compared to the stock image seen on retail sites, in person the shoe looks just a tad bit different in color. The blue is just a little more subdued. I also noticed that the polka dots are feathered by a green shadow around the circumference.

Texture: These sandals are made from printed linen canvas with a leather insole & outsole. It features a dainty 5-hole buckled strap. Since the linen canvas is a tougher material the buckled strap was a bit tough at first to loosen up.

Fit: When I arrived in Austin, I was excited to see the shoes waiting for me. I ripped the box open & my initial response was that they’re super cute. I wore them walking around downtown Austin and started to break them in. What does “breaking them in” mean to me? I have found very few heels that are immediately completely comfortable. They are 5″ heels so I do expect to wear them a couple of times to get my foot used to them. So far I’ve worn them twice and don’t have any blisters or red marks.

Ashley Spiker ShoeRazzi Miu Miu

I’ve already received great compliments even from strangers while wearing them around. They’re perfect for spring and will work great for my time in Austin. The polka dots make it a fun heel & so far I’m really enjoying wearing them.

Where to buy online:

If you haven’t checked out the adorable Miu Miu Resort 2011 look book, it’s a must see! I’ve listed below where you can find all the fabulous sandals from the Miu Miu Resort 2011 Collection online:

The Miu Miu Resort 2011 Collection is all kinds of cuteness. The entire collection reminds me of candy and the sandals are extremely nautical.  You can see below, all the heels are bright and bold featuring cords, ankle buckles, polka dots, thick platforms and chunky wedges.

P.S. – How cute are the heart print scarves!
