We’re currently receiving some form of disciplinary action. It involves complete submission to a squad of ready-for-fashion-battle shoes –and you’ll be answering the call of duty soon too, once you get your eyes on them. Together, let’s salute the Gianvito Rossi Fall/Winter 2016 collection –our new shoe heroes.

Rossi’s latest line of footwear is an homage to French and British military uniforms (along with its signature Italian craftsmanship, of course). Adorned with rich hues and regal embellishments, ankle boots and sandals are strikingly commanding –but with a feminine flair that screams elegance –perfect for the lady bosses and the style savants who are ready to conquer the world this fall.

August regal velvet ankle-cuff sandal; available at Barneys and Neiman Marcus.

The collection is sharp and striking –reminiscent of the richly decorated uniforms of the Navy. The Augusta is a velvet gem. Blue, gold and garnet embroideries decorate the sexy stiletto sandal, while the midnight blue Miral bootie brims with fit-for-royalty details such as shiny gold buttons and satin red piping.

Miral velvet peep-toe with contrast trim; available at Barneys, MyTheresa and FarFetch.

The sensual shape of the slip-on loafer might just make you give your classic black pumps a long break. The Moret features a high vamp d’Orsay with naked sides, and a thin 105 mm stiletto heel. Your new power shoe, perhaps?

Moret d’Orsay velvet pump with high-rise front; available at MyTheresa and Lane Crawford.

The Vendome Bootie boasts of a cage design that captures the frogging detail of military jackets. It consists of embroidered loops of black suede with gold stitching, creating a fierce yet ultra-feminine finish.

Vendome lattice cage sandal in black suede and gold embroidery; available at Barneys and Montaigne Market.

Mink and lamb shearlings also add a fun and flirty touch to the collection. The Moritz is an eye-popping emerald suede bootie with a fur-covered front and a lace-up detail to the ankle –a gorgeous accent no doubt, to an LBD or a white tee and jeans combo.

Moritz suede & fur boot with wrap-around laces; available at Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue and MyTheresa.

Gianvito Rossi’s Fall ’16 collection is an army of bold and powerful footwear that celebrate femininity and relaxed elegance. The only war we now have to fight is: How can we get our hands on ALL these shoes, stat?!

Charlotte Olympia’s electric Pre-Fall 2016 Mechanix collection was inspired by Fritz Lang’s ‘Metropolis’ sci-fi epic. It’s a match made in heaven for Charlotte’s signature retro style as the film portrays a “highly stylized futuristic city” complete with snazzy robots, 1920s’ glamour and of course a dramatic love plot. Here’s a look at our favorite 5 styles:

Chiara Ferragni Collection Pow Bang sandals | 4.5″/115mm | shop at Zappos and CFC

Top style blogger & influencer Chiara Ferragni launched her namesake shoe collection in 2010 with the signature glitter covered ‘Flirting’ flats slowly adding more & more heels to the collection every season. The Spring ’16 ‘Heroes to the Rescue’ shoes are whimsical as ever drawing inspiration from Wonder Woman-esque superheroes and exaggerated comic strip pop art sound effects.

This Pow Bang slip-on mule is one of our favorite styles from this collection featuring two-tone blue leather with a thin toe strap, red patent leather ‘Pow’ & ‘Bang’ appliqué and zig-zag trimmed front strap. It’s available in whole sizes only and alternatively stocked in a funky fun yellow silk satin. We’re also crazy about the blue ‘Stars’ sandals!

Anyone else’s jaw just drop? Rene’s son Edoardo has carried over the rich heritage of the family brand continuing to create truly beautiful shoes marrying Italian craftsmanship with couture. If you think of Caovilla shoes you immediately think of elegant crystal statement pieces! They continue to create the ultimate princess designs which have proved a perfect match for red carpet regulars including Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Garner.

This standout style features a gladiator-inspired cage design in black suede with silver Swarovski crystal covered side panels, corset lace-up front and long wrap-around suede laces. Half sizes are available.

Christian Louboutin Guni | 100mm/4″ heel | shop at Neiman Marcus and Barneys

This season’s ‘Day Dreamer’ Spring/Summer 2016 collection did not disappoint. We love this sexy staple “Guni” white pump amped up in signature M. Louboutin style – featuring a heel counter completely embellished with tonal leather covered spikes.

It stands out even more with the beautiful fishnet-effect lattice crochet overlaid on top of transparent nude mesh with glossy white patent leather detailing. It’s also stocked in brown marron glace at Neiman Marcus or black at Saks Fifth Avenue. Half sizes are available.

Amore-in-Lamore-Latin-for-GloryYou know she really can draw when her shoe sketches make you want to grab a 3D printer, stat. Gloria Hernando is a Miami-based artist whose vibrant and intricate illustrations –each one, truly a masterpiece –are housed under the brand LATIN FOR GLORY. We chatted with the talented designer to discover her inspirations and of course, to swoon over our common love –shoes!

When did you discover your love for art and eventually, illustrating shoes?
Art has been a passion of mine from a very early age. I was too young to realize it then, but my parents say that my innate talent for art has been apparent since kindergarten. I was a big fan of creating works of art on walls and floors with my mother’s lipstick. My inclination for shoe illustrations ignited as soon as I discovered fashion magazines (I still have a collection of Vogue cut outs from middle school).

How would you describe your shoe illustrations?
The objective of my illustrations is to capture the details and overall style of the shoes through realistic artistic techniques and my point of view. I absolutely love using color pencils because they give me the control I need to render the minutest element. Most of the illustrations I create are inspired by existing shoes, whether I have seen them in person or through publications such as Shoerazzi! I dedicate a lot of time researching and studying every facet of footwear collections before I decide on the compositions and essence of each drawing. I also illustrate my own designs however, the majority of my ideas remain within sketchbooks until the day I can produce them. For now a girl can dream!

Who are your favorite shoe designers?
The list of my favorite shoe designers is endless! I find inspiration in all types of styles andFlower-bomb-shoes-latin-for-glory both in established and emerging designers. At the top of my list are Charlotte Olympia, Dolce & Gabbana and Oscar de la Renta. These brands fascinate me with their creativity, magical storytelling, application of materials and acute attention to detail.

What do you find the most challenging part in your design process?
At the moment, the greatest challenge I face is making the time to illustrate every shoe that takes my breath away. From the minute I wake up to the moment I fall asleep, my mind is relentlessly dreaming of fashion and art. There are so many shoes to illustrate yet so little time! I am currently developing an art series, Running of the Bulls, which consists of large-scale and highly saturated drawings. Concept development and production of these pieces is time consuming to say the least.

Is looking outside fashion an important source of inspiration for your shoe illustrations?
Looking outside of fashion for inspiration is equally important as looking inside. Fashion is a tool of expression and has the power to relate to people across the map. That being said, I keep my mind, heart and eyes open to all the beauty around me whether it is the rhythm of a song, a book quote or a culture in a distant land.

You reside between Madrid and Miami. How does each city influence you on a creative level?
I have been residing between Miami and Madrid a little over a year now. It has been such a liberating and wonderful experience tying in my passion for travel along with the Kirkwood-illustration-Latin-for-glorydevelopment of my artistic career. Miami is my birthplace and will always be my hometown. It is an upbeat city, full of exuberant personalities, artistic venues and mesmerizing sunshine. My parents are both Dominican and I have that tropical and vibrant blood running through me. Madrid on the other hand is full of history, culture and also partakes in a high-spirited lifestyle that I love. It is truly inspiring in its romantic European nature and pursuit of happiness.

Have you always adored shoes? Describe your favorite pair.
I have been head over heels for shoes since I can remember! My outfits are always created from the feet up and allow me to express my personality without words on a daily basis. Heels prop me closer to the stars, fine-tune my posture and inevitably invoke a sense of power over my walk and my surroundings.

My taste in shoes is quite broad, but if I have to choose out of my closet, it would be the Parisian pair of black leather Walter Steiger pumps with his signature claw heel. Those shoes perfectly combine boldness through an architectural heel, classic sophistication and sex appeal.

What goals do you have for your designs in the next few years?
The goal with my illustrations is to continue collaborating with designers to render inspiring designs and foster creativity with pencil and paper. I want to work with Charlotte Olympia, Gianvito Rossi and Josep Font for Delpozo, just to name a few. The big dream is to one day turn my sketches into reality and create a collection of shoes that beautifully integrate art and design, while telling a unique story for women all around the world.

Our tour of the fashion capitals of the world continues. Next stop? Milan! Let’s take a closer look at our favorite Italian exports –nope, not the best-tasting pizza or the creamiest gelato there is –but shoes, of course! Whet your sartorial appetite with these shoes that are just, bellisima.

Dolce & Gabbana
Disney Princess wannabee? Dolce & Gabanna’s whimsical heels will make your fairy tale dreams come true. Metallic t-strap pumps were embellished with glitter, multicolored flowers and furry pompoms. PVC pumps were reminiscent of Cinderella’s glass slippers –you’d never want to leave a shoe behind, that’s for sure –midnight curfew or not.

Furry footwear also tickled the Ferragamo runway. Fur trim adorned the ankle strap on an otherwise classic, muted satin sandal. Toe caps of block-heeled pumps also got the furry treatment, giving the chic footwear the cozy touch of bathroom slippers. Zigzag-patterned lizard skin and suede booties and knee-highs were also playful and edgy additions to the flirty footwear collection.

Stilettos stole the show with its super ornate embellishments –tassels, cord lacing, beadwork, badges, ruffles, belts, straps and buckles were the perfect details to match the military mood of the edgy Victorian coats and Sargent jackets.

The Prada woman for fall is a traveller who treks, hikes and explores in style. Her nomadic footwear consists of lace-ups with wedge heels, multicolored laces and nautical detailing. Her Prada pilgrimage will continue with glossy patents and color-blocked leathers, adorned with golden buckles.

Now you can wear a pair of snakeskin platform boots for almost everyday of the week. The go-go boots came in a plethora of colors –black, gold, purple, blue and green –all snag-worthy for the glam-rock chicks out there.

Cropped and over-the-knee boots weren’t shy of details –the leg covering footwear were heavily dressed up in ruffled leather, scaling, garters and tapered heels. These beauties had an eye-catching color palette too, from cotton candy hues to super bold shades that would light up the streets in the fall.

Fausto Puglisi
With Madonna mash-ups playing the background, you can definitely expect a show that is equal parts sexy, rebellious and edgy. Stomp-worthy combat boots were bedecked with studs and colorblocked with blue or green covering. Cowboy boots were studded and buckled –super sexy when paired with short skirts. Then there’s that pair of metallic gladiator boots that are extremely feminine, fierce and totally hot!

Alessandro Michele described his dreamy collection as an ode to, as he said, “some of my passions” –the Seventies, The Renaissance and Street Style were celebrated through platform wedges paired with lustrous hosiery. Horse-bit loafers got a fun makeover and were spruced up with a pointed toe and block heels, while your classic round-toe Mary Janes turned into entrancing accessories with its optical illusion print.

It was a kitten heel parade. Leather ankle booties, got the modest-heel treatment, while pointy pumps already came with zipped up socks for a cosy touch. Ankle strap pumps got a little bit more height and color too. Our favorite? The fluorescent yellow capped stilettos with coral ankle straps.

Consuelo Castiglioni obviously likes to experiment with conceptual forms. Pointy pumps in high-shine neutrals featured wooden wedges with gold trimming –the shoes were like wearable pieces of furniture. Tall boots were also given added lift by wooden orbs, while other pumps were elegantly accented with curved, swirly-shaped wooden heels.
